My radio station, 630 WMAL, has publicly announced that I've been suspended by ABC (no doubt Ted Koppel and Peter Jennings are thrilled) and I am "under investigation" for my discussion on Islam and the tragedy of its current links to terror.
What is ABC Disney "investigating?" I have no idea. Here's the Washington Post-Democrats take on it: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/28/AR2005072802241.html
But I do know the one and only reason I've been suspended: CAIR.
As a talk show host, author and columnist, I've repeatedly criticized the current state of Islam and called for its reform. As for the "controversial" statement that "Sadly, as it is constituted today, Islam IS a terrorist organization, but the good news is that the major of Muslims--who don't support terror--can change that and take back their religion," I first made that statement on the air last Thursday.
Did I get suspended Thursday? No. Friday? No. Monday? No.
It wasn't until CAIR launched its campaign against me in the mainstream media and the story appeared in the Washington Post-Democrat that my job was threatened.
THIS IS THE KEY FACT: ABC DOES NOT WANT TO FIRE ME. CAIR WANTS TO FIRE ME. AND RIGHT NOW, CAIR IS WINNING.
Read the story today about "sources say Graham won't be fired." Read the first WaPo story where management stands behind me 100%: "Remember that this is talk radio. We don't do the dainty minuet of the newspaper editorial page. It's not 'Washington Week in Review.' It depends on pungent statements to drive it. Michael is rattling the cage. It's designed to start and further a conversation, and it has certainly done that."

Not any more. "Pungent statements" that offend CAIR (whose members have repeatedly made "pungent" remarks defending Hamas and other terror groups) are no longer allowed. Not at ABC, anyway.

LOL...at least you didn't contemplate becoming a eunuch to get in!
I like my Taliban crispy. Like bacon.
It's nice to see your stations agenda is set by the terrorist organization, CAIR. Here's a tip...he who rides atop the crocodile hoping not to be eaten, is only guaranteed not to be eaten until last.
It is time to fight back!

Did you know you can get his show, live, via the Internet?
I'm amazed. It sounds just like I'm listening to the radio. It helps, of course, that I'm now listening via cable instead of my old dialup.
And on the upper-right-hand corner of the homepage for WMAL, there's a link for "WMAL on demand". They now put Michael Graham's shows and Chris Core's shows in MP3 format, and have a week's worth available at any one time.
The current day's show usually shows up somewhere between 3 and 12 hours after the show. It's really inconsistent, but getting shorter and shorter!
I bought my MP3 to listen to Rush since I canNOT afford to be pinned to this PC to listen to his show, streaming again, from 630WMAL. I have the worst AM radio reception where I now live, and had to find another way to get my daily dose of talk radio.
Now I can add Michael Graham to the podcasts I download to my MP3 player.
Just thought I'd mention it.
...in other words, I think US troops right now in Kuwait/Iraq who really appreciated this WMAL radio program from the war zone:
who could now hear what the islamocensors back in the US they defend, are doing to people like Mr. Graham, they would speak up in a loud voice to help one of ours, one of theirs, in trouble with the enemy and his enablers.
We need all the reinforcements we can get, and I think e-mails from guys and gals right smack in in the field doing two things, when writing to WMAL: a) praising WMAL for the Iraq show several weeks ago as a great morale booster, thanks to Michael and others, and b) 'Hey, uh, by the way, what the hell is this taking Michael off the air business back home in America?! Put him back on if that's all he said that facilitated this action.'
That, to me, would be very potent compared to any legions of C.A.I.R. types they could throw against us.
I think your right, if it goes to court he can show that CAIR has damned thmeselves in writings and statements.
I heard Disney signed bin Laden for a new film, "bin Laden Meets Mickey Mouse, and Cuts His Throat." /Sarcasm
The only way to counter this type of campaign is if five of us confront these people for every CAIR contact.
Randall Bloomquist...I thought I recognized that name. He was a program director in Charlotte at WBT when I lived there a few years ago. Didn't know much about him though.
I have had enough of CAIR and of the caving in to their demands.
How could we have allowed CAIR to gain so much power?
has Rush or Sean (ABC radio's main drawers) spoken about this? I have not heard them. Let WABC try and fire them, you think they would for making the same comments? No way. I am going to write Rush and Sean to get them to say exactly what Graham said and see what happens.
Graham says Muslim leaders are complicit in terrorism, and CAIR screams intolerance, racism, blah-blah.
BUT....Did you ever hear them say they WEREN'T complicit in terrorism?
Funny, isn't it (NO, GDI, it's not funny!) how they all condemn the acts of terrorism AFTER they happen, but will not go public with pleas to all Muslims to abandon terrorist tactics? Graham is right.
