My radio station, 630 WMAL, has publicly announced that I've been suspended by ABC (no doubt Ted Koppel and Peter Jennings are thrilled) and I am "under investigation" for my discussion on Islam and the tragedy of its current links to terror.
What is ABC Disney "investigating?" I have no idea. Here's the Washington Post-Democrats take on it: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/28/AR2005072802241.html
But I do know the one and only reason I've been suspended: CAIR.
As a talk show host, author and columnist, I've repeatedly criticized the current state of Islam and called for its reform. As for the "controversial" statement that "Sadly, as it is constituted today, Islam IS a terrorist organization, but the good news is that the major of Muslims--who don't support terror--can change that and take back their religion," I first made that statement on the air last Thursday.
Did I get suspended Thursday? No. Friday? No. Monday? No.
It wasn't until CAIR launched its campaign against me in the mainstream media and the story appeared in the Washington Post-Democrat that my job was threatened.
THIS IS THE KEY FACT: ABC DOES NOT WANT TO FIRE ME. CAIR WANTS TO FIRE ME. AND RIGHT NOW, CAIR IS WINNING.
Read the story today about "sources say Graham won't be fired." Read the first WaPo story where management stands behind me 100%: "Remember that this is talk radio. We don't do the dainty minuet of the newspaper editorial page. It's not 'Washington Week in Review.' It depends on pungent statements to drive it. Michael is rattling the cage. It's designed to start and further a conversation, and it has certainly done that."

Not any more. "Pungent statements" that offend CAIR (whose members have repeatedly made "pungent" remarks defending Hamas and other terror groups) are no longer allowed. Not at ABC, anyway.

I wrote to several people at the station. Before I go on, I think we should be writing to the ABC executives who might have forced this on the general manager. Does anybody have e-mail addresses for the Disney execs in charge of their radio stations, or the ABC corporate people?
OK, I already got a response from Chris Core, he does the evening show 6-9pm and is a nice guy. His note was one sentence, and simply said he would be discussing this at 6pm and hoped I could listen or call in.
I may have to listen, at least for the first hour, to see what he says, before I start my "SUSPENSION" as a listener.
Anyway, that is what I told all the people at WMAL, that I had been "SUSPENDED" by management from listening to the station, but I hoped my suspension would be lifted quickly.
Michael has a lot of powerful enemies here, and takes libertarian positions just enough that his base could be considered somewhat weak.
He is strongly anti-illegal immigrant, and has gotten a lot of heat for that. He went to a pro-immigrant rally with an "INS" shirt and got detained by the police. He speaks out against "Casa De Maryland", which has millions of dollars in government contracts to provide day-labor (often associated with illegal workers), immigrant, and other services for illegals and other immigrants. They aren't happy with his focus on them, and they have a lot of political pull in Maryland.
They are also making inroads in Virginia, in the northern virginia area. We are fighting a day labor center here in Prince William County now.

Every citizen of this Country should be distressed at the power of CAIR to silence Free Speech.
Thank you Michael Graham for having the courage and conviction to speak the Truth. The fact that CAIR has the power to do this, even with the small percentage of Muslim's here at this time, makes me SHUDDER to think what the future holds for Country.
Taliban any one?
Bump!
If it comes to that I am gonna wear a burka and sneak into the harem.

You do that and Mohammed would find you the cutest prize in his harem! ;-)
I believe this quote says it all:
Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant.
The Qur'an should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth"
