Tancredo Denounces GOP Elite’s Attack on the Base

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) denounced the Republican elite’s emerging campaign to outmaneuver the party’s base on the issue of immigration control and border security. Former high-level officials at the RNC and the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign are orchestrating a multi-million dollar effort on behalf of big business to sell the President’s illegal alien amnesty plan, The Los Angeles Times reported this morning.

“Let me get this straight. Our most loyal supporters give up their vacations to walk door-to-door for our Republican candidates. They hand out bumper stickers and put out yard signs. They convince coworkers which way to vote over the water cooler. And this is the reward they get? With that kind of thanks, the base is beginning to wonder if it was all worth it,” said Tancredo.

The article reveals that big business groups are paying $250,000 a piece to fund a media war chest to counterbalance the “echo chamber of conservative talk radio” even though the President and Republican leadership used that echo chamber with great success to bypass traditional, liberal media outlets.

“Liberals are investing millions of dollars to build a media empire to match the one the conservative movement created over the last generation. If the GOP leadership tries to disconnect the party’s direct line to the base, we’ll be kicked out of here faster than you can say ‘minority party’,” noted Tancredo.

Tancredo concluded, “Good policies beget good politics. Last week I introduced the only comprehensive immigration, border security and guest worker bill in Congress. It will keep the American economy strong while strengthening our national security. My plan won’t require a multi-million dollar sales pitch—the grassroots are already on board.”

"True, but that said, Tancredo crossed over the whacko line when he was spouting off about nuking Mecca. Most of his views are pretty good (read: conservative) but that one was a plain-out gaffe."

Wacko line? I think you find more Americans agreeing with him then disagreeing with him on that issue my friend.

If Islamic terrorist ever succeed in a bio, chem, or nuke warfare upon the USA, do you really think that would not be an option demanded as punishment for their 'religious' deeds?

His only blunder is saying what people really think.

Laz,

You are wrong about the Mecca/Tancredo thing.

15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi. What if a nuke was detonated by 15 of the 19 terrorists? What would YOU have done if you were Commander in Chief . . .what should Bush have done if that was the case?

IF Mecca as nuked had that happened, every terrorist nation would have started combing their nation for terrorists and eradicating them. They would not want to suffer the same fate.

As it stands, nations can harbor terrorists and they fear nothing--in fact, TERRORIST NATIONS RECEIVE BILLIONS IN AID!

Tancredo was 100% correct. You are dead wrong.

Send me a postcard when you reach your politically perfect world(I'll be waiting a long time) instead of sending me a postcard from your current location, perpetually malcontent world.

"Note, everyone, the attack on the person of Tancredo .... and not the argument."

Excellent point that bears repeating.

I stated facts in post #80.

Like a RAT, you melt when facts are presented and resort to name calling, personal attacks or plain whining.

Maybe do some research and less blind following

Here we see Dane and all the OTHER sock-puppet 'Bots most essential fashion accessory...the one needed to ignore the base of the Party, and to be able to overlook the MAJOR issues that the MAJORITY of American CITIZENS (The Legal kind, Dane...not the ILLEGAL INFILTRATORS) want fixed and/or stopped!

The latest in Modearte Wear.

I actually live in the real world, just pointing that out to you.

Like it or not our winner take all electoral system favors and promotes a two party system.

I deal with that fact and work within it, not perpetually complain about the system not being perfect.

To paraphrase a famous phrase, it isn't the most perfect system, but it is the best one devised so far.

In all seriousness here is the main problem with the proposed plan: Giving amensty while promising enforcement thereafter is a joke. If they won't kick people out now and enforce aour laws, what makes you think they will do it then? They won't because its not part of the plan. The plan is to FLOOD this country with cheaper and cheaper low skilled workers willing to work for lower and lower and lower wages to the point where we are basically two classes, the wealthy elite, and the rest of us schmucks.

Additionally, let's assume they give these people amnesty, which it is essentially. More illegals will flood in to work for cash under the table and off the books while those given amensty are on the books. So what did it accomplish??? Squat - more low skilled non-english speaking people with no desire to become American Citizens.

See, that is what Dane loves...

Dane LOVES cheap lettuce, and less expensive "Toilet Cleaners"...never mind what the REAL costs are to America, or that the next "Toilet Cleaner" might have Tuberculosis, or another virulent disease tah has been virtually wiped out in America, but that are making a massive comeback thanks to the sieve that is the entirety of the US Border thanks to "Pro-Illegal Infiltrator" proponents line Dane et al.

What people like Dane have never answered is the question who cut the lawns and cleaned the toilets in the 40', 50', 60's, etc before these people swarmed here?

I'm all for legal immigration provided these people have financial sponsors willing to guaranty all expenses etc, real background check with real id card, etc.

The rest of them should be sent back and clean the toilets wherever they came from.

Locally, Colorado, he gets NO press because he's an embarrassment to the Coloradans who keep him in office.

harpu's obviously spending too much time in the Black Hills these days. Tancredo gets lots of press here (Front Page Denver Post yesterday). He's a great conservative leader who's not afraid to disagree with the CINOs in his party, he's a supporter of our Veterans (I've seen him at many Veterans & Memorial Day parades here riding his Harley). I'm proud to have been in the 6th District with him as my Rep.

Listen Freepers & Lurkers...if you call yourself a "Conservative", and you support politicians (GW)who call for "Amnesty for Illegal Aliens & things like CAFTA & FTAA - then you really need to do some soul-searching.

It's one thing to pull a lever for your Party's man in November, but after the election, you'd better be holding your candidates feet to the fire on issues that matter.

The MSM and the DemocRATS are trying to use the same gambit on Tancredo, that they used on Goldwater in 64. We have only ourselves to blame if we let them get away with it again.

Kyl/Cornyn does not include amnesty. It's a good plan and IMO, tancredo does not like it because it takes his meal ticket, immigration, off the table.

The link to the plan below from Sen. Cornyn's office.
