WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) denounced the Republican elites emerging campaign to outmaneuver the partys base on the issue of immigration control and border security. Former high-level officials at the RNC and the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign are orchestrating a multi-million dollar effort on behalf of big business to sell the Presidents illegal alien amnesty plan, The Los Angeles Times reported this morning.
Let me get this straight. Our most loyal supporters give up their vacations to walk door-to-door for our Republican candidates. They hand out bumper stickers and put out yard signs. They convince coworkers which way to vote over the water cooler. And this is the reward they get? With that kind of thanks, the base is beginning to wonder if it was all worth it, said Tancredo.
The article reveals that big business groups are paying $250,000 a piece to fund a media war chest to counterbalance the echo chamber of conservative talk radio even though the President and Republican leadership used that echo chamber with great success to bypass traditional, liberal media outlets.
Liberals are investing millions of dollars to build a media empire to match the one the conservative movement created over the last generation. If the GOP leadership tries to disconnect the partys direct line to the base, well be kicked out of here faster than you can say minority party, noted Tancredo.
Tancredo concluded, Good policies beget good politics. Last week I introduced the only comprehensive immigration, border security and guest worker bill in Congress. It will keep the American economy strong while strengthening our national security. My plan wont require a multi-million dollar sales pitchthe grassroots are already on board.
Very well said. Doesn't sound like a "wacko" to me.
Actually tancredo is the one known for attacking the person.
I.E. his going to the press and backstabbing Tom Delay over false demo charges.
You're too funny! The hypocrisy is just laughable any more-- I'm sorry, I can't take you seriesly these days. Have a nice, productive day...
Uh they have to do with public policy.
Bush doesn't use public funds to put out vanity pieces about internal party machinations like tancredo does.
Yeah really a President who signed campaign reform (a clear violation of the First Amendment), failed to speak up about the SCOTUS land grab in the form of the Kobe decision, and who has actively worked to undermine border security vis-a-vis illegal immigration(an issue dear to 75% of his base) is an elitist.
Maybe do some research and less blind following
I'm hughly worried about your opinion.(/sarc)
So that makes it okay for you to ignore the argument and attack the person.
Gotchya.
And Tancredo's discussion of illegal immigration isn't public policy.
Gotchya.
True, but that said, Tancredo crossed over the whacko line when he was spouting off about nuking Mecca. Most of his views are pretty good (read: conservative) but that one was a plain-out gaffe.
CFR hasn't shut you down, what do you want him to do about the SCOTUS land grab, remember it was SCOTUS who made the decision, do you think John Roberts would have voted for it, and as for illegal immigration, Bush has proposed some new reforms and they are reflected in the Kyl/Cornyn bill and with the silence of criticism of it on FR, it seems a lot of people agree with it.
So you see Laz, it is much better to do your research and not look foolish, rather than not do it and knee jerk and remove all doubt.
Uh this vanity press release about internal party machinations not public policy, was put out by his tax payer supported office.
Looks like more will be tossed overboard on the embryonic stem cell issue. Ive never seen a party so desperate for a loss.
Keep on posting you make my point every time you do.
That's Frist and not the party, but you already knew that.
If I want to band together with like minded individuals and run ads about a candidates positions during the crucial 60 days prior to an election, my First Amendment right to do so has been violated.
what do you want him to do about the SCOTUS land grab, remember it was SCOTUS who made the decision,
I wanted him to use his bully pulpit to condemn the rights-destroying decision. That he failed to do so, speaks volumes.
and as for illegal immigration, Bush has proposed some new reforms and they are reflected in the Kyl/Cornyn bill and with the silence of criticism of it on FR, it seems a lot of people agree with it.
What color is the sky on your planet? Does your alien race use money and believe in G-d? I saw LOTS of objections. We don't want amnesty without border control.
So you see Dane, it is much better to do your research and not look foolish, rather than not do it and blindly follow and remove all doubt.
I have to go do stuff today. I will let you have the very danely last word.
Dang buddy, are you that blissfully ignorant. Check out the immigration threads. You and about two other FReepers seem to be the only ones saying Kyl-Cornyn isn't an amnesty.
This is the same thing I have been saying regarding the senate for a very long time.
Laz, I can't agree with you here. Tancredo was talking about nuclear retaliation. If nuclear weapons can't be used to retaliate after a nuclear attack, then what on earth do we have them for?
