It's with mixed feelings that I hear Jane Fonda is going on the road again, as she did over 30 years ago to oppose the U.S. defense of South Vietnam's freedom, this time to stir up opposition to the U.S. mission to ensure democracy in Iraq. As she has, also, done nothing to protest the slaughters in Cambodia, Rwanda or Darfur, I am left wondering what she has against people of color in underdeveloped countries.
Is it too much to hope that Jane Fonda will travel to Baghdad, as she did to Hanoi, to offer to do propaganda radio broadcasts for the jihadists as she did for North Vietnam? Maybe the jihadists will give her a souvenir photo shouldering a rocket, swinging a large knife at someone's neck or, even better, strapping herself into a suicide explosive vest. Or does she not intend such a trip, knowing the photo would be all too real and end up as souvenir for one of the jihadists?
So, instead, she announced a vegetable-oil powered bus trip around America next spring to lead protests (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8699776/print/1/displaymode/1098/). Aside from the gross pollution caused by the vegetable-oil tankers that will have to accompany her to fuel the bus, the BS she'll leave behind at each stop will further pollute the atmosphere.
Attorneys Henry and Erika Holzer in 2002 authored an exhaustive analysis of Jane Fonda's activities in North Vietnam, Aid and Comfort. Historian Ronald Radosh reviewed their evidence and legal grounds to indict her for treason (http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=1468.
Radosh raises counter arguments, but validates the overwhelming documentation of Jane Fonda meeting the thresholds for treason set out by the Supreme Court in precedent cases: treasonable intent beyond the circumstantial, witnessed overt acts of betrayal, and providing actual aid and comfort to the enemy. Since Jane Fonda will likely not be visiting the enemy in Baghdad, she will only be providing psychological aid and comfort to the enemy this time.
Not that Jane Fonda is unthankful to America. Having been inconsequential for so long, and getting a virtually free pass by the leading media last April for her autobiography's non-apology to Vietnam POWs and servicemen, Jane Fonda is blessed to live in an America that will allow her to sell more books on the backs of servicemen and women in Iraq today.
So far, only the Veterans of Foreign Wars has done anything. Its Web site has an on-line poll for opinion about her bus tour, and a chance to name the bus. It doesn't say what the prize is for the winning entry (http://www.vfw.org/). That should certainly intimidate Jane Fonda, whose prize will be another 15 minutes of infamy in order to market her recollections of what a worthless life she's led.
She is probably looking forward to some protesting her BS bus tour. That should stir more publicity for her, and the few military malcontents she can find. The local celebrity press along her route is not expected to question why she will not share the stage with the overwhelming number of Iraq campaign veterans who contradict her commercially impassioned ignorance.
Excuse me while I hold my nose from more of Fonda's flatulence.

Char :)
It probably took 50 barrels of oil to process that "alternative" fuel.
Well...at least she IS consistent.
Traitor.
Hey, maybe Sean Penn can join her!
She's a pathetic anti-American crank who's greatest fear is to be ignored. If she's not going to wind up in prison as a traitor, I hope that her new 'Blame America' tour falls flat.
Instead of Hanoi...this time she could be photographed in Fullujah with her "rebel" friends peaking on crystal-meth installing a road side bomb. Cool!
Naaaah,
Cute, but too wordy
Call it what it is
The "Tomato Target"
A.A.C.
I'd like to tell her what she can do with her bus ...
and all that vegetable oil might make it a little easier for her to comply!
She went away forty years ago and never came back.
"It will serve as a constant reminder of who is on the other side"
You are right...this is another nail in the leftist version of the Viet Nam War.
The SwiftBoatVeterans started correcting the revisionist history of the 1960s & 70s and a whole generation of young people were surprised to learn that we actually werethe good guys in that war
The coming out party of Deep Throat was supposed to further solidify the sainthood of the democrats, but instead, it just showed how hypocrital they are.
Jane's tour is just another nail. Can Ramsey Clark be coming soon?
Come on. An ugracefully aging, end-of-career damsel needs some publicity. Give her a break. She is just one hyperinflated fart balloon.
;^)
There's probably a graphic there somewhere. Hmmmmm....
