Paul Krugman is a vivid illustration of what happens to individuals who have a first-rate ego but a third-rate mind.

You've obviously not received your Super Double Secret FReeper Decoder Ring.

I have mine. Yet every message decodes into "Drink More Ovaltine".

Isn't that what Socialists call a "40 Year Plan"?

in the same poll 77 percent called "the state of health care in America" a serious problem.

In modern America almost every problem is one created by liberal ideas.

Think about it, the health care "crisis" is really only a crisis because the government has so hampered market forces from acting on health costs. Allow insurers and providers to innovate and simplify and prices will drop.

Social security is simply a program almost totally devoid of any economic sense. Invest money for a lifetime to recieve little or no interest? Yeah, good idea.

The education "crisis" is created by a de facto government monopoly on control of schools. Regulating class size, paying teachers by seniority not skill and attracting the very worst college students to study teaching all exacerbate the problem.

The last thing the country needs is more liberal "ideas".

The bottom 50% of Americans pay barely any income tax so why should high taxes bother them?

Top 5% pay 53.25% of all income taxes (Down from 2000 figure: 56.47%).
The top 10% pay 64.89% (Down from 2000 figure: 67.33%).
The top 25% pay 82.9% (Down from 2000 figure: 84.01%).
The top 50% pay 96.03% (Down from 2000 figure: 96.09%).
The bottom 50%? They pay a paltry 3.97% of all income taxes.

Thank you for the ping, Dnbmsb! I think I would have missed this.

Good post.

Interesting article penned by Perlstine. Essentially, he's suggesting that Democrats go "poetic" or "classic" -- that that's the draw for President Bush by his supporters. The heartstring thing.

Your post points are right on target.

I'm not falling for this "public agenda" piece whatsoever. It's.. too contrived and obviously off target in numerous places. Guess the real message was in the handouts.

Bottomline, and I have to quote Rush here: Dems are still up to: How can we fool 'em today strategies. It's what they do. And therefore, believe everyone plays that way too.

The question to put to even the stupidest voter: Do you want politicians to be in charge of your health care?

What's the deal? Almost 5 years here, and a dollar-a-day FReeper and I've never gotten marching orders. Am I missing something? :)

We've been meaning to get around to you, sorry we're late. Here's your orders: support your family, your values, your country and your constitution. Believe in yourself, trust what's right, and have fun.

Life is good.

Sure, the right talks about "ideas" all the time. But they define it exactly opposite from us. For us it is a synonym for clever, complicated new policy options.

Here's one of the Dems "complicated policy options": "if we rob Peter to pay Paul, we can count on Paul's support". Past stealing, (or taking) money from one group (middle class Americans) and giving it to another group (democrats) they've got nothing.
