In the same week in July 2003 in which Bush administration officials told a syndicated columnist and a Time magazine reporter that a C.I.A. officer had initiated her husband's mission to Niger, an administration official provided a Washington Post reporter with a similar account.
[ . . . ]
Mr. Pincus has not identified his source to the public. But a review of Mr. Pincus's own accounts and those of other people with detailed knowledge of the case strongly suggest that his source was neither Karl Rove, Mr. Bush's top political adviser, nor I. Lewis Libby, the chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, and was in fact a third administration official whose identity has not yet been publicly disclosed.

Can also see more about this speech here:

and this guy Bill Hobbs says he has an audio of the entire speech from moonbat Joe Wilson.....
If and that is a big IF Wilson had anything to do with that mess with Turkey before the war??
Then he is in deep **** along with whoever might have helped him
That's a great find about the Turkish consulting firm for which Joe Wilson is a "strategic advisor"!!! Would be most interesting to learn whether any of the people in that firm have close contacts with the Turkish government - I would expect so, since the kind of firm that would hire a recently retired US diplomat to be a "strategic advisor" would be one that deals closely with governments.....
I agree that Plame pushing her husband for the CIA mission(s) could very well have been meant as a boost to his new consulting career - could be a "two-fer" to create ammunition against the Bush administration AND boost the family income over time..... may be hard to prove any legal violations since he wasn't paid by the US government, but could be a huge ethical violation to push an unqualified spouse for a highly sensitive mission which had the effect of helping his private business affairs....
If I were fishing in that pond, I'd cast the net in this direction:
What Wilson Didnt Say About Africa: Joseph Wilson's Silent Partners
While working out of Rock Creeks offices, Wilson also advised American-Turkish investment groups who shared Hagels negative views of Bushs Iraq policy. Wilson had developed Turkish contacts during his diplomatic career. While stationed in Iraq, he had shared intelligence with members of the Turkish embassy there, including ambassador Ahmet Okcun, who would later become Turkeys Foreign Ministry Coordinator for Reconstruction of Iraq.15 Also, while in Germany, Wilson had worked on Iraqi-related issues with Turkish General Cevik Bir, a critic of US policy towards Iraq.16 Wilson and Bir expressed similar views on Iraq when they spoke together at events held by the American-Turkish Council (ATC), a Turkish-American business association headed by Brent Scowcroft,17 another prominent Republican critic of the Bush administrations Iraq policy.18 Scowcroft and Wilson shared the view that President Bushs policy towards the Middle East and Iraq was dominated by a cabal of pro-Israeli neo-cons" represented by Richard Perle--as Wilson expressed his views in a June 2003 lecture, Bushs invasion of Iraq was all done to make Sharon's life easier. . .American soldiers are dying in order to enable Sharon to impose his terms upon the Palestinians. . .American boys and girls are dying for Israel".19 Wilsons contact with the ATC also brought him into contact with his future wife, Valerie Plame, whom he met while receiving an ATC award during a reception at the Turkish embassy in Washington.20 In addition to advising the ATC, Wilson also headed the Washington branch of a Turkish business group founded in 2000 by Turkish-American businesswoman Tumu Gumustekin, the Corporate & Public Strategy Advisory Group (CPS), which sought to capitalize on business opportunities opened up by Turkeys 1999 acceptance as a candidate for EU membership.21 Meanwhile, as Turkey competed for EU membership, Saddam Husseins regime had been bribing Turkish oil companies through the Oil-for-Food Program, and in December 2001 had awarded a drilling contract to one of these companies, the Turkish state oil company Turkish Petroleum International Company (TPIC), a subsidiary of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO).22 Also at this time the Alamoudi-affiliated company Delta Oil was involved in several oil development projects in Turkey and the surrounding region, including a joint project with TotalFinaElf and Turkish Petroleum and other companies to build a major oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline, from Turkey through Georgia to Azerbaijan.23
SNIP
Moveon.org was financed by billionaire George Soros,29 who had business interests encompassing, among other things, the BTC Pipeline that Mohammed Alamoudis Delta Oil was helping build.30
Here's the known: Judith Miller would never go to jail to protect a Republican. If she had confidential information on a Republican, it would appear on the front page of the New York Times the following day. The MSM lacks principles beyond hatred and hunger.
Would that be in Fitgerald's domain to prosecute?
The New York Times gives hints, but we're not children. The wording "administration official" is a deception. It implies a person close to Bush has, for some unexplained reason, chosen to be loyal to the New York Times rather than to the President. On the face of it, it's damning. If true. But it's probably not true. Keeping the source unnamed allows the NYT's to get away with it. And yeah, my guess is some democrat CIA turncoat.
Interesting..... and there are lots of goodies at this link:

Fedora has found that Wilson was up to his eyeballs in building consulting relationships in Turkey and Africa to promote his new business. Did he cut a few corners to ingratiate himself with his contacts in Turkey, Niger, etc.???? Did he say or do anything to undermine Bush adminstration policies while promoting his stature as a man with influence???
I'm just asking the questions - inquiring minds need to know all about this clown's activities.....
Here's what Fedora reported with some "original Freeper research" (lot of 'interesting' info here):
"Wilsons contact with the ATC also brought him into contact with his future wife, Valerie Plame, whom he met while receiving an ATC award during a reception at the Turkish embassy in Washington.20 In addition to advising the ATC, Wilson also headed the Washington branch of a Turkish business group founded in 2000 by Turkish-American businesswoman Tumu Gumustekin, the Corporate & Public Strategy Advisory Group (CPS), which sought to capitalize on business opportunities opened up by Turkeys 1999 acceptance as a candidate for EU membership.21 Meanwhile, as Turkey competed for EU membership, Saddam Husseins regime had been bribing Turkish oil companies through the Oil-for-Food Program, and in December 2001 had awarded a drilling contract to one of these companies, the Turkish state oil company Turkish Petroleum International Company (TPIC), a subsidiary of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO).22 Also at this time the Alamoudi-affiliated company Delta Oil was involved in several oil development projects in Turkey and the surrounding region, including a joint project with TotalFinaElf and Turkish Petroleum and other companies to build a major oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline, from Turkey through Georgia to Azerbaijan."
It would all depend on what he has found out in his investigation with the grand jury
Though I would not count on that
The irony in so much of this is that for all those who call Bush an oil man...in the pocket of the Saudis, it looks to be his policies that want to break this trend. It is obvious that so much of US State Department Near/Mid-East policy over the last 30-years has been one of placating these nations. Just looking at the list of current and former government officials with their own financial interests/lobbying tied to the Saudis...and others, indicates how deep-rooted these interests are.
You'd think Bush's new direction would be a welcome surprise, especially by those on the Left, who have always complained about these alliances. Unfortunately, this is what happens when you upset the status-quo and start stepping on a lot of toes.
I agree that Wilson is a fraud, a crook, a liar and he is way dirty
I just don't think Fitzgerald is investigating that .. from the reporting accounts so far, there isn't any indication that is going on
Grrrr .. I posted that on the wrong thread
sorry .. I'll ask for it to be delated
That is an interesting read...and I think it should also be noted that so much of Turkey's reluctance had alot to do with France's position on the war...and the influence they held over Turkey's EU status.
I don't have the details on-hand, but this was when DeVillain and Chirac were taking their world-trips to convince other nations to reject support for the US position. And who can forget France's role in the forged Yellow-cake documents. If true, This looks to have been a fairly grand conspiracy with many players.
"France's position on the war"
Sure, and French leaders may well have had the largest influence on Turkey, since Turkey is so eager to be admitted into the EU.....
Still, it is very interesting to see that Joe Wilson has all kinds of business ties to Turkey and is apparently representing the Wash. DC office of a Turkish consulting firm....
And when one reads Wilson's public comments it is clear that he is consistently promoting the foreign policy of ..... France! ....so many of the France-Turkey-Niger connections all seem to go through Joe Wilson, though surely he is far from the largest player - more of a minnow with a big mouth.
Isn't it interesting what a little "message discipline" can achieve? And contrast that to what happens when there is a demonstrable lack of that discipline - the reaching, the emotional outbursts, the desparation...Makes certain people look childish, doesn't it? "Good thing the adults are in charge" really is a appropriate response.
Oh, yeah...this cabal had so many angles to work from and so many people to help them. And as you point out, with all Wilson's diplomatic contacts, it appears that he was working all of them...on behalf of everyone except the USA.
Doin't know about that Turkey thing, but the foreign affairs outfit is Saudi funded.
Points:
Judith Miller admits that she got a "waiver of confidentiality" from her source but she believes that that waiver was "coerced" and is therefore not valid. This is all probably true since the source has not stepped forward publicly.
So WHAT SOURCE is in such a position that he/she can even BE coerced?
WHO is the coercer, and has the coercer testified before the grand jury? Obviously, the coercer knows who Miller's source is - - and it must be assumed that the coercer isn't keeping anything a secret, at least from Fitzgerald, since the coercer clearly wants Miller to name that source before the grand jury. It seems likely that Fitzgerald is fully aware of who Miller's source is but needs her testimony to corroborate other testimony and connect (some of) the dots in an "airtight" legal sense.
The New York Times is aware of all of this. And the New York Times does not want Fitzgerald to succeed. The only conclusion that can be reasonably reached is that the New York Times is desperately trying to protect somebody's political viability. That person would NOT be a Republican.
