Is Pennsylvania Planning to Secede From the USA? - (Lt. Gov Knoll announces PA's foreign policy!)
AMERICAN CHRONICLE.COM ^ | JULY 26, 2005 | SHER ZIEVE

Posted on 07/27/2005 12:22:03 PM PDT by CHARLITE

When Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll crashed yet another military funeral (this time for fallen hero Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich) and said to one of the grieving relatives “I want you to know our government is against this war” (while she passed out her quite important business cards to all who would take one—during Communion no less), I wondered to which government the lady was referring. Certainly, it was not the US government. And why did she show up, uninvited, in the first place? One would think, out of any common courtesy, she might have called to ask permission first. However, it has been reported that this is not the first time Ms. Knoll has crashed a military funeral.

In this instance, the only other logical “government” choice appeared to be that of the State of Pennsylvania. Therefore, my question “Is Pennsylvania Planning to Secede From the USA?” seemed a reasonable one. I also asked myself “Who in their right mind would first ‘crash’ a funeral, then pass out her illustrious ‘business cards’ and tell all who were within earshot that she and ‘the government’ were against the war?” Who in their right mind would crash a funeral just to make a political statement that the press would pick up and report? Hmmm. A Lt. Gov. who takes the opportunity to impose herself, uninvited, at funerals in order to make political statements—bizarre! However and as is typically the case, Democrat politicians can do and say anything, with little fear of reprisal; even when inveigling themselves into a family-only matter. Note: This was tacky, at best, Ms. Knoll.

From all accounts, except for his writing yet another apology letter on behalf of Ms. Knoll, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell didn’t seem particularly perturbed by either her statement or her actions. They have occurred before. Rendell’s issued statement was: "She goes to so many funerals because she cares so deeply. I don't go to funerals unless I'm invited. I go to wakes because they're public.” So, even Gov. Rendell waits until he’s invited! When Governor Rendell is actually invited to funerals, I wonder if he also passes out his business cards.

In all fairness, maybe Ms. Knoll is similar to one of the characters in the movie “Harold and Maude”—one of those creatures who simply can’t seem to stay away from funerals. In any event, the Goodrich family was not pleased—not pleased at all. I don’t blame them. I wouldn’t want some politician using the death of someone I loved as a venue to make a political statement, either. In actual fact, I would be furious.

So, what should be done about Ms. Knoll? Some have already called for her resignation. However, too many seem to forget that liberal Democrats (no matter what they do or say) do not leave office voluntarily. It simply doesn’t happen, folks. Besides, I don’t live in Pennsylvania. Ms. Knoll, thankfully, is the issue and the burden of the State of Pennsylvania. But, she does sound (to me) like an unbalanced soul. I hope the citizens of her state can help her out—one way or the other.

What we really need to do is let NY and New England go. The malcontents in PA would probably move there in order to take advantage of the opportunity to seccede anyway, and everyone would be happy.

Actually Boston has existed as a separate city-state all its own for a long time now.

Ask anyone who works on Beacon Hill, and they don't even know the names of the towns more than 15 miles beyond the city limits.

Unlike the South that fought unto the bitter end, the north wil throw their hands up in the air the moment their capitol, whichever city they choose to be their capitol, falls to United States forces. Besides, they are surrounded on all sides. North Dakota, Ohio, Indiana (i think), Tennesee, Virginia, West Virginia (they won't succeed. And soon Canada might join too. I would like to see their left-wing, ignorant, moralistic, hypocritical, claptrap silenced.

Strike out moralistic, though.

*laughs*

Nah, I'm a big believer in the 10th Amendment and will support any state's right to secede from a Union they voted themselves into.

Be it Yankee or Southernor.

Let 'em go, just don't let the door hit 'em on the ass on the way out :)

Fast Eddie? the guy who tried to prevent the military votes from being counted during the 2004 presidential election, never.

Pennsylvania is a blue state only because of Philadelphia and spill over from N.Y. city mostly. Most of the map of PA. shows red but I am still embarrassed by these knuckleheads who get elected through stuffed ballot boxes and dead Democrat voters who show up in Philly for elections.

Oh, and we also lay claim to Senator Ima Sphincter, oops I mean Senator Arlen Specter too.

We can simply boycott Pennsylvania as long as it continues to behave like France.

Whoa here people. Pennsylvania is a red state with some blue cancer. If it wasn't for Philadelphia's voter fraud, Bush would've won. One interesting point, we have the most gun shows second only to Texas.

As well, the seniors run heavily dem. The other deographic I chuckle at are the dem's that "vote dem 'cause that's how there parent's voted". Truly staggering how many of them are out there.

Allegheny needs a (dis)honorable mention for it's contrbution to bringing the state down. Heck, is Pittsburgh out of bankruptcy yet? Those shiny new stadiums really paid off!

If Pennsylvania sends ambassadors to Britain, may we laugh at them before deporting them for trying to use a Pennsylvania passport?

My Mom, who is 81 and polkas 3 times a week God bless her, is like the only Republican at these dances. She got nailed by the "yellow dog" democrats at one of these dances before the election. One in particular that we still laugh about is the hefty retiree that was getting in her face saying, if Bush wins we're all gonna starve. She didn't say anything back to her, God bless her.
