Iraq's transitional prime minister has called for the speedy withdrawal of US troops, it has been reported.
More follows . .
I've been hearing WONDERFUL news from my soldiers over there. :) The headline of the article is like, so typical, of the left with its "anti-US military" bias. That is NOT what is going on. The real news is very, very good.
There's that kernel of truth they think they're so clever about hiding in all that rhetoric.
Great news.
Gee, I didn't know that. Do they?
I was referring to the article posted in #1.
It sure is. Amazing how you never hear about what's really going on over here on the news, isn't it?
The media is on the terrorosts' side. They distort and they lie.
Sorry if I seem a bit cranky. Toothache. But Reuters was a pleasure to read, at least what was posted here. FRegards....
No problem. The whole subject of media coverage of Iraq (and in general) is a sore spot with me. I see firsthand how they deliberately distort things and put a negative slant on everything. I see so much progress and so many positive things happening here that never see the light of day in the media.
I hope your tooth gets feeling better.
Yes, they do. But I've thought about this from another angle, Allegra. If the MSM were doing its job, the one say they say are doing "unbiased" (ha!), the terrorists would be going ape-chit. The fact that the MSM is laden with anti-US bias, makes terrorist feel lazy, IMHO, as the MSM is carrying water for the terrorists. Every military commander worth his salt knows this. And uses it.
And that's why it is so important for each of us to reach out to our soldiers, to thank them, and share the good news right-back-atcha with them! :)

Why isn't THIS on the top of the story? "Demands," my butt!
Worthless media. Long live FR!

Actually, I've had chats with some of the military brass here who are just as frustrated as I am about it. They worry about troop morale when the troops see their successes being ignored or even trashed by the media. I always make sure to tell our troops to ignore that and I assure them that support for them back home is as strong as it ever was.
Whenever I hear any of the soldiers or Marines express doubt about support back home, it infuriates me.
I don't think the article and the title are even connected, are they???
But I agree with you. A date certain would be news. More of the same is not.
"No problem. The whole subject of media coverage of Iraq (and in general) is a sore spot with me."
Me too. I can certainly understand that. As for my tooth, thank you. All bad things must come to an end. FRegards....
"I don't think the article and the title are even connected, are they???"
They could be. You have to put on a spin cap to figure out the possible connection. I hope they aren't connected. But if the Iraqi PM does in fact want us to leave, we should leave. But I'm a bit skeptical, however.
BREAKING NEWS! A man carrying inflamatory device was discovered entering the subway! Yadda, yadda, yadda and they finally say it was a Bic lighter. The "Major" news story of Nattilie Holloway is a prime example. Hillary Squats, Bill Pees--and the beat goes on.
The U.S. will have 100,000 troops in Iraq for at least a century.
The Iraqi government is and always will be a sham.
If the U.S. pulled out at any time it would immediately transform into a terrorist theocracy.
Unless the U.S. destroys the mosques, and supresses Islam like it did native American culture, it will not succeed.
A demand by Iraqi officials for a speedy withdrawal could be the covwer the admin wants to begin a withdrawal. After all we said we would withdraw when the Iraqi government asked us to. This could be an orchestrated political move to allow us to withdraw next year.
This is a coordinated move. Negotiations with the Sunni fedayeen may be further along than we think, further isolating Mr. Z and the Headchoppers. I have always believed that in the end, Al Qaeda would be sold out by the local Sunnis and Ba'ath, who had no intention of allowing the Sunni lands to be dominated by foreign jihadists. The quid pro quo? Fedayeen get to join the army, with nice paychecks and a steady job. U.S. troops vacate the area to desert bases, with a mutual agreement to exterminate the jihadi.
Part of what's going on may be to bring the organized crime people into the mix, since so much of what happens is opportunistic organized crime covered in jihadist clothing (e.g.: you don't pay the local Don protection money, we blow up your gas station with a VBIED and make it look like Zarqawi did it....).
Be Seeing You,
Chris
Ditto Allegra. Our troops and officers are concerned about the Old Media's antics. And when you think back to Newsweek's recent slander, with the resulting fallout, their concern is valid. Even worse, IMHO, is that wimpy complaints about Gitmo air conditioning makes us look weak.
It's funny. I still remember the names of the Clinton pets. Heheheh!
I can tell when pals in Iraq/the Ghan are getting their fill of anti-American, American MSM. It comes through in their emails. I keep selected "reports" on file about how the MSM and their allies, liberals, are going down for the count, being exposed -- and send those right back to 'em. Always. ALWAYS.. I get delicious, happy emails back from 'em.
And the troops here? They have my love and support to. They are pulling monstrous hours holding "the rear". I treat 'em. Taking some to a water park soon. Buy 'em lunch. Babysit their kids, whatever it takes.
They worry about troop morale when the troops see their successes being ignored or even trashed by the media
Yes, it can make those so-inclined to give-up easily, to give up more easily. But, from what I've seen ... the brotherhood in the troops is strong. And they lift each other up; or challenge each other to newer heights of something exciting.
What bothers me most? How the "left" defaces and defiles the War Dead and Maimed. That's what gets my blood roiling. In my military pals? It just galvanizes them to fight better, fight smarter. It's the guys overseas, I think, who get hit the hardest in re anti-military media -- and part of it is just being so far from home and we who love them and appreciate them.
Truly, I don't think the Iraqi PM is bitching. I think it's MSM spin.
