BRITISH Prime Minister Tony Blair's rating as a leader has soared since the London bombings, even though a big majority of voters believes his decision to go to war in Iraq has increased the risk of terrorist attacks at home.
In a Populus poll for The Times, taken at the weekend after Thursday's second wave of abortive attacks, Mr Blair's leader rating is his second-highest yet, while almost a third of all voters believe he should reconsider his decision to stand down as Prime Minister before the next election.
This boost to Mr Blair's ratings occurred even though 64per cent of voters believe his decision to take Britain to war in Iraq has increased the risk of terrorist attacks such as the ones this month in London.

The Times poll shows only two-fifths of all voters believe that Mr Blair should stand down either now or by the end of next year, down from 50 per cent in early June.
The 30 per cent believing that he should reconsider his decision to stand down may be a temporary response to Mr Blair's handling of the attacks.
His leader rating (on a 10-point scale) now stands at 5.55, up from 5.07 in January. This was topped only by his 5.75 rating in May 2003, just after the fall of Baghdad.

The poll shows strong support for tough action against suspected terrorists and their sympathisers, but a tolerant view of the Muslim community generally.
Thirty-eight per cent of voters agreed that the fact that three of the London bombers were British-born Muslims showed that multiculturalism had gone too far, while 53 per cent disagreed.
Young people and the middle classes were much more supportive of multiculturalism than older people and working-class groups.

Blair: "Do you know what I think happened? That on September 11th, a LOT of people WOKE UP... And then rolled over and went back to sleep again."
When are the DUng moonbats going to say Blair obviously bombed London himself to boost his ratings?
I'm waiting for Michael Moore to claim that Blair knew about the attacks before they happened, as evidenced by the fact that the US warned them, and thus, it is clear that Blair allowed these attacks only to improve his polls.
Multi-Culturism has not always been a dirty word, not until the Muslims started immigrating. They are terrorists or support terrorism and are a very savage people, and the civilized should not have to try to live with them.
Ping. Any comments?
Blair knows it and has stood firm, and the people of England now awakened to the facts, will stand behind him.

Ironically, Muslims believe that their host countries will assimilate into their (the immigrants) culture.
Blair is an idiot.

Yes, I think we all know dear Tony's failings. He is still falling into that reflexive Guardian-reader trick of talking about "Palestine" (where is that again?). But face it, he is currently saying something we can all agree with.
You sure don't hear too much from Michael Moore these days? I wonder why... maybe because of his famous quote "There is no terrorist threat" with a slight chuckle in his voice... he makes me sick
"But face it, he is currently saying something we can all agree with."
Talk is cheap.
His "response?"
Trying to change the rules to allow holding British citizens without charge for up to 45 days.
Meanwhile, law abising citizens still aren't allowed to keep and bear arms to protect their persons, property, and family.
