I read somewhere (sorry, can't source it) that Mohammed at one point became obsessed/depressed by the fact that muslims did not have their own holy book. Next thing ya know, like POOF!! there it is - written by none-other-than (with divine help of course).
It was at that point, about 10 or 15 years ago, I began to think islam just might, maybe, be a BS religion. And I don't mean college graduate...
Most Muslims are told what to belive by their local Mullah...and can never question what is said (one of those little Mohammedisms). If you look around, its hard to find a die-hard Muslim who has a university degree...and if they do practice, its at the liberal end of the religion (if you can call it a religion). Obvsiously, we are dealing with a cult here, and we to treat it as such. The truth is that Iraq never was much of a goal for the Bush administration...its the Saudi Muslims who have made our world a unsafe place. Ossama is still target number one, and we should prioritize ourself in such a fashion.

Mostly by arguing that the quotes are being taken out of context and usually by knocking christianity for "wrongs" it committed hundreds of years ago.
Your "moderate" muslims play the game of "reinterpretation" or "Selectivity" i.e. think cafeteria religion, of picking and choosing.
The quran (and hadith, which, while Mohammad was illiterate, he did have a biographer follow him around, is the 2nd holiest book in islam) are pretty specific, and he went out of his way to make sure every single thing was to be taken literally.
To put this in perspective, how bad this religion is, even if there are muslims out there who disagree with the terrorists today, they are smart enough not to mouth off about it, the so-called "moderates" (usually polished soft spoken liars who hide hidden agendas better then the usual folks) know that they themselves are not in the mainstream in islam.
