Hispanic, Islamic Groups Want Tancredo Out

By STEVEN K. PAULSON
Associated Press Writer

Hispanic and Islamic groups called on Rep. Tom Tancredo to resign Monday, saying he has embarrassed Colorado by suggesting bombing Islamic holy sites if terrorists launch a nuclear attack on the U.S.

They also criticized the GOP congressman's staunch advocacy of tougher immigration controls.

"Enough is enough. We're here to say 'Stop,'" Hispanic activist Manolo Gonzalez-Estay told a crowd of about 200 at the state Capitol.

Abdur-Rahim Ali, imam of a Muslim shrine in Denver, said Tancredo's statement that "you could take out" Islamic holy sites in a retaliatory attack was unacceptable.

"What would happen if a prominent Muslim made that statement about Catholic holy places like the Vatican?" asked Ali.

Tancredo was traveling and unavailable for comment. His spokesman, Will Adams, said the four-term congressman has no intention of apologizing or resigning.

"They are a lot more upset about what he stands for, our nation's security and border policy, than anything else," Adams said.

Tancredo should've had the sense to know how big the difference is between thinking to oneself that Mecca might need nuking and saying in public that Mecca might need nuking. He handed his enemies the gun they needed to shoot him with. It remains to be seen how many shells are in the gun and how good the aim of his enemies is.

Anyone who doesn't like Tancredo, for any reason, is welcome to vote for his opponent in November

As long as that "anyone" is a legal, registered voter in Tancredo's voting district. All those who are against him AND meet this criterion, please say "aye."

Maybe we should just select the capitals (and appropriate secondary targets) of all the nations promoting terrorism:
Islamabad, Pakistan: Mushy just said "there is no Al Qaeda in Pakistan." He's lying. Pakistan's madrissa's are the birthplace of the Taliban and the philosophical home of Al Qaeda. Strange how many of the the British terrorists had recently been to Pakistan... OBL is probably hiding here, and the Paki terrorists are attacking India, too.
Need to make certain we take out their nukes, too.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: OBL may not like Saudi royals, but who do think pays for the Wahabbi radicals and their madrissas recruiting grounds? And don't forget, 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis.

Damascus, Syria - thats where a lot of our trouble in Iraq comes from.

Tehran, Iran - this would be a real pity, since there is probably more pro-American sentiment in Tehran than in San Francisco. Don't forget their nuke research sites, too.

If the Israelis simultaneously took out the PA and ran the Palis into the Sinai, and Jordan, the ME would suddenly get MUCH quieter.

"Tancredo should just give up the 08 race. He is just going to waste money and time. He is a one issue candidate."

There are some single issues that have no effect on others but immigration ain't one of them. It affects - to varying degrees - every problem social issue we have. Education, health care, I could go on but you get the picture.

Exactly. I mean, I may not have disagreed with the man if he were already President. I'm looking at this from a political perspective as I was 100% behind the man with his stance on immigration. It was politically stupid for him to say and I'm not willing to support a nomination that will put his foot in his mouth only to give us 4 years of Hillary with the Patriot Act.

I would like to hear where he stands on other issues as well though I do believe our borders are the major issue. I hesitate to support the Patriot Act as long as we ignore the open borders. That's like being in a sinking ship and spooning out the water before plugging the hole. Doesn't make sense. We will have the Patriot Act forever this way!

If saying something that some find "stupid" disqualified a candidate, DC would be a ghost town.

Perhaps Tancredo should've pointed out that parking in Mecca would be greatly augmented.

"There's two voices right now, and the noisy one is what I call the slam-the-borders crowd," Armey said. "The voice we want to speak with — and the one that will be in unison with President Bush — is the voice that echoes those marvelous words on the Statue of Liberty."

Those marvelous words on the Statue of Liberty refer to legal immigrants. Illegals from Mexico is unfair to those America loving people in faraway nations such as Vietnam who are unable to get a visa to come to the USA because Mexico has used up more than the worldwide quota for legal immigrants.
Furthermore, to support Presidente Fox's "Go North For A Better Life" policy hurts those Mexicans who love their home and choose to stay there because when your only economic policy is leave the nation....nothing in Mexico improves for those who wish to stay there. That's inhumane, if you ask me.

Here's a website you should check out.

Hey---I didn't say that it isn't something we should do...I just disagree with the way that Tancredo said it...

THAT would be a major step to take, like taking out a nuke weapon site, and I don't think a hot-headed remark by a Senator is the time or place to make such a remark!

I was looking at Tancredo or Newt as possible candidates. I'll have to see how he deals with these remarks. I don't want to have a President Hillary.
