Members of the Minuteman Project have seen firsthand just how dangerous their mission is becoming, after an incident on Saturday night along the California-Mexico border.
A California Minuteman leader says about 20 volunteer border-watchers were shot at, reports KFI Radio.
Minuteman Project head James Chase says the group heard five shots coming from the Mexican side of the border on Saturday night and then "when we turned the lights on we saw two guys with AK-47s standing at the fence."
"We didn't discharge our weapons or fire back because we would have received that AK-47 fire... we just pulled our people out of the area," Chase said.
Chase believes the shooters were "probably drug-runners who wanted the Minutemen to leave."
The San Diego Sheriff's Department says it got a call about the shooting but "didn't find any evidence."
Scouting -- as well as regular border-patrol duty -- continues in advance of the next Minuteman Project activity, now set for October.
Minuteman Project leaders plan for the October event to be significantly larger than the last one at the Arizona-Mexico border, as more concerned American citizens join and support the growing effort.
O I forgot F**ing Kerry did chase them back into Cambodia.
Before he didn't? Lol! This is the type of governmental policy I'd expect from him, but not Bush.
The difference is that this is on our turf, and the people shooting at us share our border. Frankly, I wish I was able to volunteer. Just wait until an American gets shot by Mexican troops. Bush thinks it's sticky now? He doesn't know sticky...
Yes. Those with concealed carry permits may carry a handgun only That's no match for any AK especially at a distance. I'd feel better with SOCOM16
Ouch...$1727.00, is a little too steep for me. It would do the job better than a handgun. Don't bring a handgun to an AK 47 fight.
Of course we know why they can't carry something like that...
"Like it or not, the President is not going to do a single thing that actually impedes the flood of criminals from mexico."
Yep. You're right. A report like this during the Ike administration would have received an entirely different response. Border patrols would have been all over that area, working overtime. And that's for starters.
What's going on with Bush? What's the motivation here? There must be a financial link, something he's personally profitting from, for him to act this way.
EV I hope you have your bullet proof vest with you!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
No.
But I'm a moving target...
