So....what did he die of?
Too many cigs crammed down his throat to prove cigs do not cause cancer.

How 'bout 'old age'? Reagan smoked for years and lived to be 93. But I guess Mr. Doll would have blamed it on lung cancer.

In 1604, James I of England wrote: Smoking is a custom loathsome to the eye, hateful to the nose, harmful to the brain, dangerous to the lungs, and in the black, stinking fume thereof nearest resembling the horrible Stygian smoke of the pit that is bottomless. The king also claimed that if he ever had the devil over for dinner, hed give him a pipe to puff on.

His initial research was without question before it's time.......unfortunately later on he picked up on the PC propaganda and added to it.
However the man has now passed on and I offer condolences to the family and may he Rest in Peace.

"Did anyone in here quit smoking? If so----why? Honestly."I quit because it's unhealthful, it stinks, it's expensive and it seems silly for a packet of weeds to control my life. I live in CT and worked on tobacco farms (yes we grow tobacco in CT) in my youth and there is possibly no fouler plant cultivated. It is sticky, smells awful and harbors invertibrate wildlife you wouldn't believe.
But to each his or her own.

Jamie, though, had his own vices. These days there's no doubt he'd been using blue-meth suppositories.

I smoked for about 15 years and quit in 1981. The primary reasons were smell, cost (even when only $1 pack), and the known negative health effects.
I took up running the same weekend I quit and have been running ever since - including three marathons in the late 80s.
