Armed National Guardsmen and women have had a pretty steady presence in Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station, and maybe the Port Authority bus terminal too, since September 2001.

They don't patrol the actual subways and subway stations, best I know.

There was also a couple of armed National Guardsman at the Metro North White Plains train station yesterday, but I had never seen that before. To be fair, I am very rarely at that station (2x a year or so).

I suspect Livingstone will be voted out of office next time - his support had dropped quite a lot in the last election. Red Ken only won in the first place because all the other candidates were so dire.

A suspicious package is any package left unclaimed for even a couple of minutes in a public area. I've watched the bomb squad hustle the packages out of the building into the courtyard more than once.

Now, that would be a novel way for getting rid of Aunt Martha's Christmas fruit cake ;-)
