Words of war

July 24, 2005

THE TWO leaders of the West's struggle against Islamic terrorism, President Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair of Britain, rightly emphasize that just a small minority of Muslims embrace terror acts. It is crucial in the struggle against terrorism for mainstream Muslims to isolate and turn against those who kill innocents in the name of their faith. This is why it was so dismaying when a Colorado congressman talked about bombing Islamic holy sites to avenge a hypothetical nuclear attack by terrorists -- as if the faith itself were at fault. Osama bin Laden could not ask for a better recruiter. Tom Tancredo, a Republican from Littleton, Colo., was asked earlier this month by a talk radio host what the United States should do if terrorists use a nuclear weapon against it. He replied: ''Well, what if you said something like -- if this happens in the United States, and we determine that it is the result of extremist, fundamentalist Muslims, you know, you could take out their holy sites." When the host asked him if he meant ''bombing Mecca," he said, ''Yeah." Since then, Tancredo has tried to minimize his remarks, but a week has passed and he has not apologized for them. If he doesn't promptly, the House of Representatives should take action to clarify that he is not speaking for Congress.

SNIP

Tancredo's remarks recall those of Lieutenant General William Boykin, who was reported in 2003 to have said that when he was fighting in Somalia he knew he would capture a Muslim opponent because ''I knew that my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God and his God was an idol."

Ah yes the boston globe gets it right in the first part, but then decides to smear a brave servicman and General, by comparing Gen. Boykin who was actually fighting the islamofascists, to that of a two bit politican(tancredo), who gives the islamofascists propaganda points for cheap headlines and donations to his political PAC.

At a pivotal time in relations between the United States and the Islamic world, Muslims are getting a dangerously mixed message from representatives of the US government. The House of Representatives should condemn Tancredo's remarks as forcefully as the State Department has.

More blame-the-terror-victim BS. Don't you think any reasonable person would say that the rest of the world is getting "a dangerously mixed messages from representatives of the" religion of peace(tm)?

In your haste to smear Tom you got it wrong, as wrong as the bird cage liner. The extremists swim in the warm waters of Islam, the Islam of domination. Perhaps the wits at the Globe should ask those "mainstream" muslims if the Koran really is the literal word of god, and then ask themselves if they really want to align themselves with such worthies.

And any reasonable person wouldn't give the islamofascists propaganda points either, ala tancredo.

And tom(tancredo) makes those waters even warmer, IMO, by giving the islamofascists propaganda points, all in the name of cheap headlines and political donations.

Gimme a break. Blaming Tancredo for allegedly giving the terrorists a propaganda point while our media industry is in all-out terrorist propaganda mode is more blame-the-victim. Tancredo's idea may or may not be wise, but it is definitely not smart not to have it on the table for discussion.

You are right, and hell it would really be a shame to lose a perfectly good meteorite before we cut it up for science.

No it is blaming the perp, in this case tancredo. He should have known better, but went for his own self-aggrandizement.

The media I expect to give propaganda points to the islamofascists, not a Republican congressman.

Tancredo said the right thing.

We are fighting the Ummah - if the Ummah somehow nukes a city then we must be prepared to destroy Mecca that same afternoon. We must make sure the Ummah knows this. It will condition their thinking.

BTW "Tancredo" is a form of "Tancred", a famous Crusader name. IMO this sort of historical parallel is not lost on the Islamics.

Leave out the 10th century parallels, it ain't the 10th century, but the 21st century, where worldwide communications by opprotunitic politicians such as IMO, tancredo, can give propaganda points to the islamofascists in milliseconds.

"The State Department saw the danger that Tancredo's words pose to US standing in the Islamic world. Its spokesman, Adam Ereli, condemned the remarks as ''insulting and offensive to all of us." He went on to state: ''We respect Islam as a religion, we respect its holy sites and we . . . respect the dignity and sanctity of other religions."

Islam has lost its standing in the U.S. and is rapidly losing it in all parts of the world. And so it should. It is not a religion, but a violent ideology created by a violent man.

You think Islamists are in want of propaganda? Do you think Trancendo has broken some glass ceiling where the Islamists are REALLY REALLY mad now instead of just being REALLY mad?

Sure, it was a geopolitically idiotic statement, but I think you are worried about the wrong people. I would be more worried about the soft-gloved, jelly-spined "allies" who sphincters have collectively puckered over Trancendo's remarks.

You would not give a shite about Tancredo and the war on Islamic Terror were he not a turd in your Open Borders Punchbowl and the special vitriol that you reserve for anyone who stands in the way of the illegal immigration you so adore and the dream you have that it will obliterate the Gringo culture you so loathe.

That is all you live for on this forum. Your dream of when the non-Hispanics become a minority in America.

Why is that Dane?

Did a cracker say something ugly to one of your kinfolks?

With the above you make the stockholders of Reynolds alauminum foil very very happy, wardaddy.

BTW, I have supported publicly the Kyl/Cornyn bill(from two of the most conservative Seanators in the Senate) on FR, where's your support?

I'll probably hear crickets.

Agree. It is a conspiracy against liberty -- a deadly cult with the goal of dominating the world and killing all who will not submit to that goal. It is time to ban this deadly cult -- this conspiracy against our Constitution -- within the borders of the United States.

If you look at it from a slightlly different angle, it may not be so geopolitically incorrect. During the Cold War, the buildup of nuclear missiles on both sides was to create the fear that the opposing country would be reduced to ashes if attacked.

This resulted in a fear that created bomb shelters in backyards, and the underlying fear that the Big One would be dropped at any time. This fear played to both sides.

The War on Islamofascism is global and the continuous killings in Iraq, the terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia, the bombing in Egypt, the homegrown bombers in London shows that there is not a "home" country for Islamofascism.

Maybe the threat to reduce Mecca and Medina to rubble provides the counterpoint of the Islamofascists reducing the Western World to rubble.

I gave at least 5% of my pre-tax to get W elected.

and I've given to DeLAy and Marsha Blackburn

and marched in a number of counter-MoveOn.org demonstrations and would have attended the Blackburn-Sensenbrenner rally here but for heart surgery.

and I give to immigration control advocacy groups as well

NRA, GOA and NFIB and BBB too...and many others

and my church...where I am now headed ...

PS..there are threads on our rallies here...with pics too!
