I just heard Fred Barnes says on Fox News that McConnell had already secured the votes to succeed Frist as majority leader.
I like Mitch McConnell a lot, and I think he will be a much more effective leader than Frist, and hopefully will lead the 110th Congress with more conservative Republicans.

He'd be a huge improvement. Frist has been a disappointment in letting himself get rolled time and again by the DemocRats and their kissin' cousins McCain, Specter et fils. Why bother having a majority if you're going to act like Dobby the cringing house-elf?
To: RWR8189
Howdy doody couldn't be any less effective then Frist what with his majority.

So, all of Trent Lott's backroom backstabbing and wheeling and dealing were in vain.
lol.
Lott thought he could regain his former position.

It can't happen soon enough. We can't afford all of these Republican "leaders" who are busy back-stabbing each other while at the same time they roll over and play dead for the Democrats.
To: RWR8189
Good. I want Lott nowhere near the position.
To: RWR8189
He would be great. Nice country boy mannerism and look with cold steel underneath. Good combo. Frist is just too nice and trusting. McConnel knows where the dems knives are. Frist could only locate them when they were in his back.

Sen. McConnell said to be positioned to succeed Frist Harry Reid must be wetting his pants.
Hopefully, this will push Swimmer Ted over the edge and drown himself in Dewars

Don't any conservative Republicans want the job?
To: Non-Sequitur
Don't any conservative Republicans want the job? I suspect the party powers do not want a genuine conservative in the position. Afraid the MSM would brand him "too partisan".

FINALLY! A Senate GOP leader with brass ones! Brass what? His record on immigration is abysmal. His record in reducing spending and shrinking the size of government is even worse. His sole interest seems to be in fund raising. How about Roberts of Kansas or Santorum of Pennsylvania or even Craig or Crapo of Idaho? Any one of them is far more conservative than McConnell.
To: Skeeve14
Frist committed on his first campaign to term-limit himself to two terms. I think his current term expires in -06.

My 7 year old Granddaughter would be a stronger leader than Frist......but I'm not overly thrilled with McConnell....
The question of what he's carrying in his scrotum is brass or silver coins -- remains to be seen..

And he's married to Elaine Chow who is on a first name basis with the Chicom leadership.
