MILWAUKEE - An off-duty New Berlin police officer allegedly offered a woman $15 to perform a sex act Tuesday while visiting Milwaukees south side.
Robert J. Scrima, 41, of Waukesha, faces one misdemeanor count of soliciting a prostitute in Milwaukee County Circuit Court, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday. The New Berlin Police Department acknowledged the arrest of one of its officers by Milwaukee police in a news release.
New Berlin Police Lt. David Dunn interrupted a reporter who started to ask a question about Scrima, saying the department would not discuss the issue Wednesday.
"Its a personnel issue," Dunn said. "All employees have due process under state statute."
The statement from New Berlin police identifies the arrested officer as being arrested Tuesday for soliciting sex from an undercover Milwaukee Police Department officer. It goes on to say he is on administrative leave and an internal investigation will take place in the future.
The criminal complaint against Scrima alleges he went to the 2400 block of West Greenfield Avenue on Tuesday and motioned toward a woman who was actually working in the vice control division anti-prostitution detail for Milwaukee police. Scrima allegedly talked with her and then offered to pay her $15 for oral sex, the complaint shows.
When talking with a male Milwaukee police officer later, Scrima allegedly acknowledged he thought the woman was a prostitute and the two talked about exchanging $15 for the sex act. Scrima allegedly went on to say he did not plan to actually go through with the act because he worried about catching a disease, the complaint shows.

$15? What did he expect for that? A back rub?
And, unless she was dog ugly, he should have guessed the $15 was not right.
This goes on regularly in Detroit--by the Mayor.
Will he also be charged with sexual harassment of a fellow officer?
He should have tried dinner and a bottle of wine instead.
Micky D's and MD 20/20? No woman is going to put out for a $15 meal.
That is, of course, with full pay!
I agree. H'd certainly worry about catching a disease from a $15 prostitute so he's probably telling the truth. [sarcasm/]
How to insult an undercover cop for $15 or less?
I Scrima, you Scrima, but he screams for....
Well I once had a girl hop into my car when I was stopped at a light and offer a BJ for $20. Aside from making a mental note never to leave the passenger side door unlocked again, I ended up giving her $30 to go away (no BJ). I'm pretty confident I would've gotten the $20 BJ if I'd wanted it though.
For fifteen bucks he could've bought a few copies of Hustler and pleasured himself without having to worry about cooties.
Urgh. That's the kind of hooker that dies young.
Robert J. Scrima, 41
"If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $10,000 and nine months in jail."
I think this punishment is a little stiff, for soliciting a prostitute.
she must be a real beaut for 15 bucks
I've always wondered where the feminists were on this issue. With regard to abortion, they shriek "keep men's laws off of our bodies!"
So they should have the right to rent out their bodies if they like.
Prostitution is the world's oldest profession. It's not going away.
There are no victims.
As a cop he was probably used to coercing whores into providing free services. Not in touch with current market conditions.
Yep!! Here in Il,there was a state trooper who was pulling over motorists and having them strip on the side of the road...he got busted and is facing 22 felony counts, yet he is on leave WITH PAY!!!
At some point the price becomes so low that it's hard to call it prostitution. What if he had offered her a bus token? He could just say it was a free BJ and bus far home.
In New Orleans, one cop was charged with murder, in jail, denied bail and (you guessed it) on full pay. Madness!
