I don't know the specifics of this incident but if it were a death offense maybe the offenders would have thought a little more about doing it first.

This used to be the case in most states. Rape used to be a capital crime. That changed in the 1930s; why, I don't know. We already know that child molesters cannot be reformed. If you let them out of prison, they will re-offend. It would be better for everybody if we make sure that they never get out of prison, and the only way to do that is to kill them. It works for me.

They have the death penalty in California, but can you remember the last time they used it? I can't.

These days I wouldn't trust a jury of my "peers", either.
