Revealing contrast between young and older generation:

"The Japanese people take peace for granted," said Hiroya Sato, 20, of Tokyo. "The Japanese people are not interested in things like war."

"The Americans contributed so much to the reconstruction of Japan after the war. I think their influence was very significant and positive," said 62-year-old Yasuzo Higuchi of Tokyo. "Even now, because of their presence in our country, North Korea can't attack us."

Most people in both countries believe the first use of a nuclear weapon is never justified.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone out there know ANYBODY who has ever been asked this question in a poll? Because I find this rather difficult to believe.

What would a poll of the Chinese reveal?

Need to get their jargon straight. WWIII was the Cold war.

Vietnam and Korea were theaters in that war.

This is WWIV.

If you desire peace, prepare for war.

"I feel like we're in a world war right now," said Susan Aser, a real estate agent from Rochester, N.Y

Maybe because we are.

Two-thirds of Americans say the use of atomic bombs was unavoidable. Just one-half of Americans approve of the use of the atomic bombs on Japan.

Which is it? So, they don't approve of it but think it's necessary? Reason number one why any President that polls a country to produce action has failed.

The Americans contributed so much to the reconstruction of Japan after the war. I think their influence was very significant and positive," said 62-year-old Yasuzo Higuchi of Tokyo. "Even now, because of their presence in our country, North Korea can't attack us."

Or it's less likely they'll attack, since we would defend our allies. At least someone gets we can be a force for good, that their security is dependant on our military and good will.
