Revealing contrast between young and older generation:

"The Japanese people take peace for granted," said Hiroya Sato, 20, of Tokyo. "The Japanese people are not interested in things like war."

"The Americans contributed so much to the reconstruction of Japan after the war. I think their influence was very significant and positive," said 62-year-old Yasuzo Higuchi of Tokyo. "Even now, because of their presence in our country, North Korea can't attack us."

"But military instructor Hugh "D.J." Carlin, who lives near Fort Knox, Ky.,said, "I don't really think we needed to do it. We darn near had the country starved to death. We could effected a blockade."

I think Mr. Carlin is wrong, There was no way we were going to effect a blockade of Japan with Naval forces we had or placed then in harms way due to "Kamikaze attacks." We would have eventually have had to invade the Japanese islands and the cost to us and the Japanese would have been in the millions.

Like some of the people in this survey I also believe we are in WWIII, or WWIV, if you consider the Cold War as WWIII, as some do.

It is easy to sit around and have a positive outlook on your future with others providing you security.
