It was Sunday evening at a casual Orland Park restaurant. A couple, in their late 20s or early 30s, held hands, deeply kissed and couldn't take their hands off one another. The young lovers were both men.
Often in articles relating to changing social mores, the writer begins by assuring readers he's no prude. That's not happening here.
I live a sheltered life by design. I know that I'm an old fogy, a fuddy-duddy and a stuffed shirt. Oh, and of course a curmudgeon too.
Even if that weren't the case, though, I think seeing these two characters in action, and I do mean action, would have been a disquieting experience.
A young, if you'll pardon the expression, heterosexual couple with a child was also present. They cast disapproving looks at the frisky twosome on their way out. I'll bet they absolutely loved having to explain to Junior, who looked to be about six, what he'd just been exposed to.

I examine and analyze medical records for a living. The records of gays are particularly revolting. One of them, today: in the clinic because he'd gotten a rash from a new sex partner, having trouble with his anus, syphilis, gonorrhea, some kind of "bumps" on his penis, diarrhea, infections of every conceivable sort, being violent and abusive in the emergency room, tuberculosis. . .as you said, a lot of the things he was telling his doctor would gag a maggot. And he's just typical, one of the many whose cases I see. Anybody who thinks this lifestyle is okay is nuts.
Make that 3 of us!
Even a couple we've know for years sometimes TALK about intimate details of their sex lives.
These little tidbits are always met with my husband and I throwing our hands in the air and yelling:
"TMI! TMI!"
(TOO MUCH Information :)
Stories like this make me glad I live in the hills amongst the rednecks!
I knew I forgot something. Sorry.
I knew that feeling was wrong, that's for sure.
I've heard from several gays and at least one wrote that seeing heteros holding hands made him sick to his stomach.
I'll bet they would have loved being brought into it. At the deposition, the first question: How many heterosexual couples have you told to cut it out?
I'll bet they're members of the "Peace and Justice Committee."
Gads, what a weirdo! The guy that wrote to you, not you, lol!
Holding hands is pretty darn tame, and it makes him sick? I think he's probably got issues far beyond just being gay.
"A common argument against same-sex PDA is that parents are forced to explain same-sex coupling to their children. I think that parents should address such issues, because their children must live in a world with same-sex couples whether they like it or not. Ignorance perpetuates violence against same-sex couples, which is not beneficial to anyone."
Sometimes PDA is a political statement, though. One of the campus groups I work for, The Gay-, Lesbian-, Bisexual-, Transgendered-, Straight-Alliance, organized two of the kiss-ins you referred to. Kiss-ins are not intended to upset people; however, they are intended to be "in-your-face" so everyone must recognize that same-sex couples exist. They also provide a safe space for people who do not usually feel comfortable being affectionate in public to do so.
A college student, eh? I bet if he were a parent, he would most likely feel A LOT differently about same-sex PDA, or even opposite sex PDA.
One day he'll hopefully grow up and realize what an idiot he sounds like.
Geesh. Lovely fan mail you get, FRiend! LOL
Not like there's anything wrong with that!
A psychologist
once said his experience
with the behavior
of his gay patients
led him to believe some gays
were defined not by
their partners, but by
hyper-sexuality --
They were people who
constantly sought out
encounters and orgasms.
But that was back when
psychiatrists still
classified homosexuals
as unbalanced folks.
I would have walked over past the table and "accidentally" performed a fall in such a way as to knock their table into their laps. I then would have "peter sellersed" it even further in presenting my sincere and fulsome apologies in such a way as to make their situation full of more and more accidents.
LOL 70s porn was the best.
The fags don't want to "win us over" they want to shove their "lifestyle" in our face and force us to grow tolerant or even numb to it.
For example, the gay pride parades held around the world... Are you growing more accepting by watching the naked debauchery paraded down your city street?
What have we started to do - ignore it, grow numb to it.
I will not accept this as normal - It won't happen - not with me!
Was that when men wore black socks and masks?
IMHO, the MSM play a role insofar as the gay parades are "cleaned up" for TV and newspapers. The outrageous stuff is overlooked for snips of how large the crowds were, how many politicians participated, how everyone is just so full of love, love, love.
I see people in SF bringing their KIDS to the fag parade. I'm blown away!!!
They either don't know what they are in for - OR... they are REALLY BAD PARENTS!!
Ick.
"Andrew Ghant, 40, of the South Side, said he and his family have been coming up for the parade every year for the last three years for the fun they have while attending and to support the gay and lesbian community."
"'You don't run across nothing negative,' Ghant said with a smile while holding his 9-month-old son, Andrew."
Wonder what he considers "negative."
