People shouldn't be judged based on their spouse's views. Look at the late Senator John Heinz for example!

Ha! I can't wait to see feminists and other liberals trying to nail Judge Roberts because of his wife's views! How chauvinistic! I thought women were supposed to be independent and have their own careers and views separate from their husbands. Sure worked for Hillary.

So far we know that Roberts can't be a Justice because:

(1) He may be a bad Catholic (not a good one like John "I'm a marriage-abandoning pro-abortion member of a secret society Catholic" Kerry).

(2) His wife is definitely a bad Catholic.

(3) His wife publicly opposes abortion.

(4) he provided legal advice to an evil client (the Florida GOP).

So.... he's arguing that the Pres should appoint HER to the SC, not her husband?

Works for me.

Hmmmm...this is one of many media (print/broadcast) 'reports' of this nature. Seems the radical hardcore left wing desperately desire to have the abortion issues as a driving force in the Robert's nomination/confirmation process.

The MSM is certainly stressing the wife's views the last two days. Someone made this conscious decision to hammer this home to the 'Dems' masses. Already heard of the wife's pro life affiliations, her work on those issues. Wonder if Schumer will question the nominee as to the 'weight' of the wife's views on the nominee's judicial rulings.

Hmmm ... I think the script goes like this:

Roberts was all ready to look to past jurisprudence for guidance oon abortion law, but then one day he asked his wife. When she pleaded with him not to turn mothers into murderers and to not have the blood of countless baby girls on his hands, he decided, as many a male pol has decided before, that he would have to defer his judgement to his wife's, as the issue is far more pertinent to a woman than it ever could be to any man.

What's wrong with being pro-life?

(Notice how articles like this one assume it is a bad thing).

While Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts Jr.'s views on abortion triggered intense debate on Capitol Hill this week, there was no mistaking where his wife stands: Jane Sullivan Roberts, a lawyer, is ardently against abortion

Great, and when President Bush nominates her for a Judgeship we can discuss it.

This is funny.

He is the candidate.
She is the wife and she is anti-abortion

Now this is where it gets funny. The feminists and all those people who think women were oppressed and they fought so women could be somebody and make their own decisons, etc. Now they have it and they will BASH this woman for having her own opinions, thoughts and ideas. Is it a riot or what? It's like a dog chasing a car and when he finally catches up to it it's like what will he do with it?

The dem/lib/fems have no legs to stand on. It's always their way or the highway. Well a word to all of those losers...Mrs. Roberts is her own woman. That's what you srived for in all your protests and burning bras and all of that. Now you have strong women and you don't like their stance UNLESS it is YOUR WAY. Tough...it aint gonna happen.

Imagine the nerve and brashness of this woman daring to be against murdering babies. How dare she? What a joke those other people are. Jokes, clowns etc.

Go Mrs. Roberts. I am with you. I am not, never have been and never will be in favor of murdering a baby. Not now not ever.

Roberts' wife is unequivocal in opposition to Roe v. Wade

Ditto here. Of course, one can support abortion on demand and still be against Roe V. Wade.

Who really cares what his wife thinks? What does *he* think?

Does he think it should be overturned??

Does she have a testicle lock box she'll use to assure he'll share the same view on Roe?

I don't think that my husband would appreciate being held responsible for my views. No way, he'd muzzle me first.

So am I, but neither Roberts' wife nor I have been nominated to be elevated to a Justiceship on the Supreme Court.

But I bet the Demonrats will attack Mrs. Roberts even though they would squeal like stuck PIGS if someone questioned the beliefs of Teresa Hindend Kerry or Victoria Kennedy.

Of course if his wife had "pro-choice" views, none of this would be an issue. Liberals just look at people in a different light if they are pro-life. Judge Roberts may or may not want to overturn Roe but the Left won't care. What matters is preserving the liberal sacrament and so Jane Roberts is quite simply fair game.
