'Arson' on suicide bomber's home An area around the home of suicide bomber Germaine Lindsay has been sealed off after an apparent attempt to burn down the building.
Thames Valley Police said officers were called to Northern Road in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, after reports of a strong smell of petrol in the street.
Police said a substance thought to be petrol or diesel had been located and the area sealed off with houses adjoining Lindsay's former home evacuated.
Lindsay, 19, blew himself up on a Piccadilly Line London Underground train on July 7, killing 26 people in the most deadly of the four terrorist attacks that day.
Last week, officers of the Metropolitan police and Thames Valley Police began a search of the semi-detached house on Northern Road which Lindsay had shared with his wife, Samantha Lewthwaite.
Ms Lewthwaite, who is not currently staying at the house, last week condemned her husband's attack as "horrific".
Thames Valley Police said that the incident in Northern Road was being treated as attempted arson and appealed for anyone who was in the area to contact 08458 505 505.
Earlier Lindsay's mother tearfully described him as a good son and said she would not accept his guilt without proof.
Maryam McLeod, wearing a traditional Islamic robe and veil over her face during a news conference in Grenada, called the July 7 bombings "horrific" and said she was struggling to cope.
"I need evidence to believe that my baby could ever harm anyone, let alone kill, injure and traumatise a community," McLeod said.
Unfortunately, she's probably not in "denial" but a practiced liar.

Why do I have the feeling that Mr. Lindsay had long since changed his name to "Abdul Mohammed" or some such blather and the media remains determined to address him by his former Christian name.

Same with "shoebomber" Richard Ried(sp?). It is an intentional ommission on the part of the media to disassociate these attacts from the Muslim religion.
