Apparently this guy had set himself up as the leading "expert" on the causes of suicide bombing. He is wrong, for the reasons you listed, and more. His full name is Richard Pape.
I thought the pictures of NYC after 9/11 looked more like Beirut than any other place I'd ever seen. The Islamists are trying their best to transport their value for life to the west.
The jerk on FOX so missed the point. The islamic fanatics hate us not because we have troops on Arab soil. They hate us because of who we are, people that want to live in the 21st century, not the 7th or 8th.

I have suspected for some time that DU is made up of a lot of these characters. Characters of different liberal stripes from around the globe. Yes, we have enough of our home-grown ones, but they are tweeked and egged on by the undercover terrorists and have no idea what is going on.
I may live in small town Nebraska...not Muslim central or even a viable target...but when are they going to strike in the US. And can the American public as a whole handle things like the British and not go all wobbly? We seemed to come together after 9/11, but we've really never seen a sustained attack like what seems to be going on in Britain. I just pray our leadership steps up strong enough if/when this happens here to bring the people together.
I hope my doubts are just the fact that I'm working on 2 hours of sleep (from sometime yesterday) and are proven to be unfounded.
