This latest claim Valerie PLAME'S identity was revealed then leaked in a memo is TWISTED BEYOND BELIEF.

The memo referred to her as VALERIE WILSON

This latest theory that the super secret identity of VALERIE PLAME was LEARNED from a memo then leaked from that memo is BOGUS.

The Washington Post reported Thursday the identity of Valerie Plame -- identified by her married name of Valerie Wilson --

This latest theory that the super secret identity...

Ummmm...that's double super secret -- with a cherry on top. Cross your heart and hope to die. Spit in your hands and do the special coded handshake. And don't you forget it! [snicker]

This prosecutor better hurry up, this man is losing credibility every day that more leaks come from his investigation. At a minimum this prosecutor should address the press and clear the air, since his incompetence with continued leaks has smeared a White House official.

Bravo, Echo Talon! I could not agree with you more strongly. It's about time we put the focus on Fitzgerald.

That's the whole point of this. I'm telling you guys, Fitzgerald is using the RAT playbook.

Fitzgerald could never do his job with the press getting in the way...

What exactly is Fitzgerald's job? He was asked to look into who leaked Plame's name to Robert Novak. If Fitzgerald is a competent lawyer, then he should first have determined if any crime was committed. If there was no crime, as there doesn't appear to have been, that should have ended the matter right then.

Seems like he thinks the gravy train(our tax dollars) lasts forever.

It almost might, too. As I understand it, the Grand Jury is set to expire in October (although it could be extended), but Fitzgerald has no deadline on his investigation.

Once you turn a special prosecutor loose, there's no stopping him. No telling where he will go.

Obviously if he lives on planet Earth he knows whats going on in the media. I think he should have a conference and tell the media where is his in his investigation. Shoot down any lies that have come up, and possibly call someone out if he has anything. Him just sitting there and doing nothing just doesn't seem right IMHO I understand that he can't say much... But I'm sure that he could say whether recent smears are warranted or not.

Too true, sigh. And the thing is, very few special prosectors ever produce anything of value to the country or to the interests of justice. Too often, all they wind up doing is ensnaring some scared-rabbit low-level player in a web of mis-statements that open him up to a perjury charge.

IF and I'm saying IF Rove has to go to court, is all this houpla in the press fair? That is exactly why I think he should put a stop to it.

How different might things have turned out if Ken Starr had used Monicagate as a springboard for a wide ranging investigation of the Clinton administration.

He certainly ought to be accountable to someone. There ought to be at least a little transparency to what he (or any special prosecutor) does. Grand Juries are notorious for -- as the saying goes -- indicting a ham sandwich if the prosecutor leads them in that direction.

And absolutely he ought to clear the air if he knows the reputation of an innocent person is being smeared. It's even more critical in these perilous times when the POTUS and his aides don't need such a distraction.

Surely after two years he must have some idea of the answers to whether or not a crime was even committed, if yes, who committed it, and so on. Surely his whole case doesn't rest on whether or not Miller reveals her source(s), especially if hers are the same as most of the other reporters involved.

Actually, Ken Starr was given a very wide brief. He was supposed to look into Whitewater and a bunch of other stuff, and the Lewinsky matter fell into his lap, so to speak. Like most special prosecutors, Ken Starr's investigation dragged on and on and on. The Lewinsky matter finally gave him something to show for all of the money and effort consumed.

Even if he thinks someone is guilty and his isvestigation is NOWHERE NEAR complete, I think he should at least have a press conference and tell them not to "rush to judgement" like they have been. And that his investigation will be completed by X-date.

If the Democrats were honest, they would have forgone this whole thing 2 years ago when it really mattered. Now it just stinks of political expedience, and it par for the course as far as the behavior of the Democrats is concerned, which is trashing this White House at every turn. Frankly, I hope the Democrats keep this up, they'll be in the minority for a couple of generations.

Ken Starr had a wide latitude with regards to the Clinton administration. The Lewinsky matter gave Starr something from which to go after Clinton with. The central theme was the fact that Clinton perjured himself on numerous occasions, including during the Lewinsky fiasco.

"rogue group at the Agency"

does this have anything to do with the fact that Porter Goss is cleaning out the CIA?
