Robert George Schulze showed up in Dakota County District Court on Tuesday to explain why, two years after he was cited by the city of South St. Paul, piles of wood still litter his back yard. Instead, Schulze, 88, was booked and placed in the county jail, where he is being held without bail for 30 days or until he cleans up the clutter.
"He's never been in prison before," said his wife, Mary, 84, standing in the offending back yard. "It will either kill him, or he's going to make a big story out of it later. I don't know which."

How can he clean up the clutter, if he's locked in jail?
His 84 year-old wife better get busy with the pick, shovel and hoe and get that back yard cleaned up fast.
same way you do when you don't pay your child support?
hell if I know. his kid was on local radio saying he and
his dad's neighbors were working on it now.
A lot of places will just cite you a time or two then the city/county will clean it up and bill you. Dont pay and a lien mysteriously attaches itself to the place
Gubmint gone awry. Send out the Gestapo, thrash this criminal good.
I know who you're listening to on the radio.....
;-)
This is what "liberty" or citizen means....
"For at least the past two years, Schulze has been in hot water with the city over code violations on his property at 225 Warburton St., including the rickety condition of a back porch, rips in a back screen door and stacks of lumber in the back yard."

What dangerous criminal, obviously he needs to be locked up, endangering the entire neighborhood like this.
(SARCASM)
It's HIS property, how is it the cities business what he keeps in his back yard, unless it smells and disturbs the neighbors, and I don't see how piles of wook hurt anyone.
Tell Grandpa to call his grand kids to get over quick and make some marshmallows out of that wood pile. They will be taking him to a Rest Home real soon if he doesn´t make some quick moves.

thanks
Instead of throwing him in jail, they can now take the property by eminent domain.
But there ought to be a law against putting you in prison, AND taking your property, too.
Just one, or the other!!!
"...rips in a back screen door..."
It's against the law in Minnesota to have a rip in your screen door? Guess they'd have to put my cat in jail.
FREE BOB Schulze!
I wish you well in your fight with city hall.
A WWII vet locked up for clutter?
Reminds me of "John Rambo, congressional medal of honor recipient, shot for vagrancy"
