VAUGHAN, Ont. (AP) - The brother of Carolina Hurricanes forward Jeff O'Neill was killed Thursday morning in a car crash north of Toronto, police said.
"The fellow who was killed is Donny O'Neill - and his brother is Jeff O'Neill of the Carolina Hurricanes," said Sgt. Cam Wooley of the Ontario Provincial Police.
O'Neill was 33 and a resident of King City, north of Toronto.
The accident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. on a ramp linking two major highways.
"Unfortunately, the driver was not wearing a seat belt and the vehicle rolled on to him (and) crushed him," Wooley said.
O'Neill was pronounced dead on the scene by the coroner.
Jeff O'Neill, a 29-year-old Ontario native, is in Toronto to attend the NHL players' association meetings.
That's crappy news...damn
How very sad. One should wear one's seatbelt.
Well, at least he wasn't trapped in a burning vehicle.
Sad hockey ping. :-(
That's true.
That was my attempt at black humor by the way. I wear seatbelts. Interesting fact about the blood moving through the lungs.
I figured that was sarcasm, given the accident details.
I read this about the blood yesterday in a book about the 1918 influenza epidemic, and I thought it was just amazing.
How sad. Too many are thrown from their autos, who would otherwise have survived an accident.
Prayers & condolences to the O'Neill family.

Freep mail or ping me if you want on or off the Hockey Ping List.
Prayers and condolences for the O'Neill family.
