Ah, a nice summer read. . . sex, politics, corruption, cars, politics! Did I mention sex? And, this has a lot of potential to put "paid" to Schroder and the SPD/Greens. Gotta love it.

Actually, Ferdinand Porsche's car company, where he got to realize his dream of cheap transportation for the masses through Hitler's support of the idea. Although it was the post-war Brits who made it a large, successful company.

Here's an excellent book on the subject. In addition to talking about the Beetle, it surveys other developments going on about the same time. My only complaint was that it referred to, but did not discuss, developments going on Italy; it does, however, talk about French, American, and eastern European developments. I would love to see a book about the Fiat 500 some day (I lived in Italy for a year in the 70s; 500s, 600s, and 650s were all over the place).

And it has some interesting pictures. Like one of Porsche serving as Archduke Ferdinand's chauffeur!
