By the third time you have cancer, you begin to think about your mortality.

Seems plausible.

because people might wonder where she is ... and probably for the same reason other people tell of their problems; so they can receive support and prayers and maybe it convinces those pitted against her to maybe take it easy on her ...

No, cancer is no laughing matter.
A sense of humor is an excellent coping mechanism during difficult times.

is this the part where I tell you that my missus' kidneys quit last week, and we've spent 4 days in ICU, and we're looking at the possibility of the rest of her life on dialysis?

I could've come on FR and posted a vanity, looking for smpathy, but until now, I've kept it where it should be, private.

Her Movie "The Eyes of Tammy Faye" is incredible and very eye-opening. God Bless her and I hope she beats it.

"their chemo radiation is poison and just doesn't work...what a rip."

Damn, I didn't know that chemo and radiation therapy didn't work. I'll have to tell my doctor he screwed up 5 years ago when I HAD colon cancer.

"their chemo radiation is poison and just doesn't work...what a rip...wish she'd look else where...there are alternates that actually cures."

Absolutely! There is so much out there now that it is amazing. You need eyes to see and ears to hear.

THere's even a lot in preventive. Life Extension Foundation just published some of the research showing that higher urinary melatonin level is associated with lower risk of breast cancer.

There's more new every week. But not if you go the alopathic route.

Most people are not at that level my friend. Chemo killed my father but to each his own. It's up to each individual to decide what's best treatment for themselves.

My guess is someone close to her alerted the media. Like her or not she is considered a newsworthy. BTW, sorry about your wife.

Medical problems are the last refuge of a scoundrel - with medical privacy laws there is no way to verify the validity of such claims. Hence the proliferation of child cancer hoax stories as a way to fleece sympathetic people, etc. And yes, I have had cancer.

You needn't keep it quiet, digger, there are a LOT of wonderful FReepers who care!! We are a family, at least in my eyes, and I will be keeping your wonderful wife in my prayers. I'm sure a lot of others will too. We really care!!!!!!!!!

you know what, I am disappointed in some of the people in this thread.

I am not the biggest PTL fan, but I certainly do not take pleasure in knowing that anyone has cancer.

yes, she is, was and will always be nasty, but cancer is like the great equalizer. Let's see anyone here go through a personal battle with cancer and not feel, live and be a changed person.

so yuk it up tammy faye has cancer, and someday maybe you or someone you love will also, then it wont matter what your past is you will be as afraid as she is right now.

But she is the enemy, stupid, corrupt, perhaps evil, and yet I can't help but wonder if the commandment to pray for our enemies means anything or if we are just the same as her.

Thank you for your kind words.

It seems the only time I'm not a complete mess, is whilst FReeping.

An escape, I guess.

I saw a biography of her awhile ago, and thought this would happen. She had a badly bleeding rectal cancer, and decided to ignore it. She finally went for treatment when she was nearly dying of blood loss.

She then said something to the effect that it was just too embarrassing and upsetting to seek treatment for such things, and that she was not visiting the oncologist regularly, perhaps she was using a natural remedy - I really can't remember. But I DO remember thinking she is a cancer disaster waiting to happen.
