ABU GHRAIB, Iraq, July 20, 2005 On July 13, 170 U.S. infantry soldiers from Task Force 1st Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, attached to the 256th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, received the Combat Infantryman Badge for combat action in Baghdad. The soldiers are assigned to the cavalry regiments two infantry companies and its heavy mortar platoon.
"This badge is a symbol of their courage under fire," U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jim Blackburn
The badge was established on Oct. 7, 1943, by the Secretary of War and is awarded to infantry soldiers in the rank of colonel and below who are engaged in actual ground combat with the enemy.
The majority of awards for F Troop, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment came as a result of their participation in Operation Clean Sweep, with 3rd Brigade, 1st Armor Division in April. During that time, the troop was credited with finding numerous cache sites including one of the largest weapons caches found in the Baghdad area.
This badge is a symbol of their courage under fire, said U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jim Blackburn, from Washington, Pa., commander of 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. This shows that they have risked their lives for one another and individually closed with the enemy.

Has everything changed since 92? Shouldn't it be the CIB? The EIB use to be a course badge.

CIB- Combat Infantry Badge...EIB- Expert Infantry Badge. The difference between these awards, is having the downrange shoot back, with the full intent of delaying their own deaths.

I applaude these young men. That is a very coveted award. Looked upon with envy from all of the non-infantry MOSs. A lot of guys in my unit and I got ours after jumping into Panama. When we sewed those patches on our BDUs we struted around like the cocks of the walk.
With Howard Dean the dems have formally graduated from "disarray" to "debacle", with "irretrievable disaster" just around the corner.

LIFE...IS...GOOD!
I don't have the words to express how I really feel about the job these fine people are doing over there, and the way they're going about it. It gives me hope for our country.
