I loved reading about Free Republic's founder and the catalyst for his courageous activism. He went head to head with Slick Willie's legal henchmen and stood his ground. Thank God for sites like this. Without media watchdogs like the Freepers, the purchase of Clinton/Gore's 1996 re-election by Chinese arms merchants would have gone unreported and there would be no one to counter the journalistic fraud of the Socialist controled "fourth estate". FR has been a Godsend and a cyber home to me for longer than I'd care to remember. But we'd better not get complacent. The Clinton machine is well entrenched in the media and it hasn't gone anywhere. New FReepers may wonder at the intensity and coordination of this truly phantasmagorical attack on Karl Rove - that's what it was like for eight long years under the Clintons. They create their own reality and make the country believe it by sheer shrillness and dint of repetition.

This IS going to recur in 2008. The Rove thing is a tuneup and a dry run. If these entrenched media are not countered by the power of the internet they will happily remount the throne, and they're doing their best to make that happen. We have to organize and we have to do more than sit behind a keyboard and fulminate. We have to use this marvelous tool as it was intended, in the defense of the Constitution and to combat government and media corruption.

I still remember the day I first heard of "FreeRepublic.com" and the excitment I felt when I logged on for the first time. THOUSANDS of freedom-loving patriots were already waiting for me when I registered and learned that I wasn't alone!

Jim and John, I loved you then and I love you now. I may be getting old and out of wind, but I'll be there - right beside you - if and when we need to make another stand against the Clinton machine.

Thank you for posting this article about Free Republic, and our Fearless Leader Jim Robinson. At times it sent chills to me, recalling the treacherous times, of dealing with the Clintons. I remember myself being censored at the CNN Message board, but still so angry with what the Clinton's were doing, needing a place to post. I posted in Yahoo Groups , and being manager to a few political yahoo groups. Yahoo Groups , were hard to manage, because somehow, by keeping the Groups an open forum, the rift raft would float in. I now no longer post in Yahoo Groups.

It was only in 2002, I joined Free Republic, still feeling the need to voice my political opinions. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for letting me have a place to post my political thoughts and to discuss the news.

I love that I can one day tell my grandkids about 2000 and how I remember the DAY that "Sore Loserman" was made.

Man I remember being a newcomer to, and glued to, the Freerepublic web site when all of this was going on.

When Gonzalos and others were about to charge the Stephen Clark buiding I was watching it on Fox News, and reading on Freerepublic. I came within an inch of hopping on an airplane and heading to Florida. I was so mad at the attempt to steal a presidential election. It ended before I could go, but I was so fired up I was ready (I'd to have taken off from work).

All this reminds me why I need to get a check in the mail to Freerepublic tomorrow (today's Sunday).

Jim could not have done it all by himself, but he is certainly the catalyst that made the success of the site possible.
The intellectual depth and breadth of Freepers is obvious and undeniable.

Famous names in the media use FR as a resource, though they are loath to admit it. Politicians and their aides are constantly here also. I can't prove it, but many of the "off the books" readers have modified their behavior after reading FR. That is a huge satisfaction.
