Why did any Iranians survive the war if they are so intent with becoming martyrs?

Great article.
I met a lovely lady yesterday who was born in Tehran, moved here when she was 2 and then MOVED BACK after the war ended. She left as soon as she finished high school.

What this man is saying is that Iran is doomed. I hope he's not right in his assessment.
The one thing I did notice is that the women he spoke to did not agree with him and wanted Shria gone completely, yet he discouraged them.
This article contains a lot of mixed signals. Perhaps it's because the author is conflicted himself.
