Yeah people come and go at channel 5 but he's always there. He's cool. He came out to our job and did a hurricane preparedness presentation years ago. I had thought he was much taller:')

Thanks for checking in and re-inforcing my faith in Tim Smith. I've met him once and you confirmed my impression of him being a nice guy.

It's calm here at the moment.

Ah, this probably isn't the place to be hanging out, feeling that way lol. Kind of like going to a bar and not wanting alcohol around.

Boy, I could use a little 70 degree weather here, without the hurricane of course. Stay safe and keep us updated. How far do you live from the shore?

Thanks for sharing, but I think you came to the wrong thread to complain about Emily coverage. Besides, if you are sick of the coverage, why did you come to this thread?

Stay safe, Frank. May you hear few "booms" and no "karks" during the next 24 hours...

The 'kark' sound is usually something suddenly ripped from where it's supposed to be. Like a swingset, or a roof...

TV does that. Same when Col. Oliver North was here and we went to see him. He was not as tall and much thinner than he looks on TV.

Who got the Margarita's? I have food for about 100 for 2 weeks. LOL!

Hey, news media/weather watchers! Catch a clue! Most of us don't need to hear minute by minute coverage of 'Emily's' progress! Enough already!

Here's a clue for you--this thread isn't in Breaking News, Current Events, or Front Page News...btw--Texas and Florida FReepers are consistently two of the top three state contributers to Free Republic. Get over it, Bucky. :o)

I'm in Port Brownsville. Not really a shore but I'm a little less than a mile from the coast.

The media hype it because:
* It "proves" Global Warming (e.g. hurricanes = global warming, doncha know?)
* Anything promising to raise the price of oil can be used to demonize us EEEeeeeevil SUV drivers, who refuse to "convert" to driving little hybrids with 9 inch wheels!
