Reader Ken Kampshoff points out that Drudge has posted the guests and menu for the White House dinner given by President and Mrs. Bush this evening for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Mrs. Gursharan Kaur. Among the guests are Weekly Standard executive editor Fred Barnes, Rep. Bobby Jindal, and GE chief executive officer Jeffrey Immelt -- great! (We'll meet up with Jeff Immelt ourselves tomorrow night when he makes the rounds for Dartmouth in Minneapolis.)
Also on the guest list is Ms. Indra Nooyi -- not great! In fact, almost unbelievably disgusting. Why? If you're new to Power Line, or have a memory as short as mine, you might want to review the story I related most recently in the Daily Standard column "The straight story." What can I say? That hurts.
This situation begs the question: Is patriotism now considered a worthless commodity?
Sad, very sad indeed.
This invitation will result in a re-hash of the outrage and an extension of the negative consequences for Pepsi, so I am all for it.
The White House is inviting Indian dignitaries, so they are inviting high profile Indians from the political and business world. Indian business leaders do not get any higher profile, for good or ill, than Indra Nooyi.
Personally, this has really shaken my faith in the Administration
psst...Dianne Feinstein is also on the guest list. And they're serving booze!
a state dinner list has "shaken your faith" in the administration?
Did you ever look at the dinner lists from Reagan?
It's part of Washington's culture to invite people with her background.
What better way to act than to smile at your critics? A state dinner is not a forum for rehashing a bad speech and she'll get plenty of plenty of fallout herself from accepting an invite.
My eyebrow went up when I read her name too.....but then these thoughts came:
Honorees are asked to submit names for invitations, maybe they requested her
It's just a dinner & she is one of the most accomplished people from India
It's like a company party....there's a mix & match of people who are invited
Let's see..... The big guy from India and a big American of Indian ethnicity. Is there a problem there?
Ok W. Keep doing the things that inflame your conservative base for no frigging reason (like having your Dad give an award to Ted Kennedy who didn't even take a 5-minute break from bashing you)).
Blind Bushbots flame away!
I'm getting a good feel for being a new Dr. Pepper drinker.
Bumping this one up now that she's CEO. BOYCOTT PEPSICO PRODUCTS!
