Brown would also be the first COMPETENT woman on the Supreme Court, so President Bush would be making history that way as well.

Sorry, Hatch does not even have the backbone to protect an Aide who wasdoing their job...I agree. That was an example of only one of Hatch's lack of backbone!

"If Bush nominates a mainstream moderate question mark, support from the Christian right will crumble and 2006 will be the GOP's worst nightmare."Boy that really will solve a lot of problems, wouldn't it?

Consulting with Manslaughter Kennedy is consorting with the enemy.
Bush still (and never will) relaize that it is not "politics" in Washington, there is a war gong on. Unfortunately, the only side who engages the enemy are the RATs--the Republican'ts refuse to fight the war.
Bush will forever play Mr. Nice-Guy with the RATs, be "bi-partisan" and "reach across the aisle" and "extend an olive branch" and all that other phoney crap, but the RATs will just laugh at his weakness and continue to wage war against America and the Constitution.
The RATs' sole focus is to gain power and control at the next election. They will not work to solve the nation's needs. Bush's refusal to understand this is shocking.

One thing is for sure, there would be plenty of cowbell in the Supreme Court.

"The first black woman on the Supreme Court wouldn't be bad, especially if her last name is Brown."
How about the most qualified person, regardless of sex or race?

Better her than Clement who has been the buzz this morning.
However, I still hold hope that Bush will do what he always does with nominations-surprise us.

I wish...here's a dream court:
Ann Coulter
Walter Williams
Ted Nugent
Keep Scalia, Thomas
There's our conservative majority, screw the other 4.

This state (SD) is ready to make it illegal tomorrow if RvW is overturned. Many more will choose the same way.I don't know about SD but I can guarantee you there are not "many" states that will..
Oklahoma would probably outlaw it.

Then the term Originalst is not applicable. I want judges that do not make law on the bench, do not make social policy on the bench, and that do not meddle in state issues unless there are clear constitutional reasons to do so. I don't want to trade a liberal mommy SC for a conservative daddy USSC both are bad.
I totally agree with this. Leave the law making for the Congress. The idea that the SCOTUS should have a hand in that should be totally destroyed forever.

I would have thought I would have seen some criticism on here when she was a dark horse candidate if there was something to be concerned about. It's hard to criticize or praise someone of whom little is known.

Another quote from that movie is my favorite...
"It says 100% GUARANTEED you moron!"
"Mister, if you don't shut up, I'm gonna kick one hundred percent of your a$$!"
