What the Karl Rove Issue Is Really About

Dear Friend,

The attacks from certain members of the Democratic Party against Karl Rove this week have been an absolute disgrace. This is an attempt at personal destruction and political opportunism at its very worst-it is downright shameless.

It has been reported that the liberal extremist group MoveOn.org has been giving the Democratic leadership direction over the last several months. It comes as no surprise that MoveOn.org was the first to call for Karl Rove's resignation this week.

But for members of Congress to take part in this smear campaign, that's an entirely different and truly unfortunate matter altogether. The Democratic leadership even brought the political attack against Mr. Rove to the floor of the United States Senate on Thursday by offering an amendment to the Homeland Security Appropriations bill that would strip his security clearance. Strip his security clearance based on what, hearsay? What an absolute sham!

This excerpt from a statement from Mr. Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, should help demonstrate why the Democrats are so completely and utterly off base in their political antics:

"Rove has cooperated completely with the special prosecutor, and he has been repeatedly assured he is not a target of the investigation. Rove has done nothing wrong. We're confident that he will not become a target after the special prosecutor has reviewed all evidence."

Majority Leader Bill Frist summed it up quite well in saying, "this is a sad and disappointing afternoon here in the United States Senate."

Based on the information at their disposal, the Democrats have taken reckless partisan attacks to a new level. The Democratic Party leadership is in disarray and they are desperate-attacking has become their modus operandi. They have personally attacked the President's well qualified judicial nominees. They have attacked every single plan that is put forth to address saving Social Security. Howard Dean personally attacked the Republican Party, saying its members have not worked an honest day in their lives. And the Minority Leader Harry Reid personally attacked the President of the United States by calling him a loser and a liar. The Democratic leadership has guided the Party into an abyss-no new ideas, no agenda, just negativity.

Below are some quotes from Senate Democrats that fully acknowledge the points that I am making and should serve as a reminder why it is so important to support the Republican Majority in the United States Senate.

With warmest best wishes,

Elizabeth Dole

The clear and present danger to the republic by the democratic crime syndicate, their enablers and propagandists is being revealed every day. This evil can be destroyed at the ballot box. We the people can vote them into extinction. We will take care of domestic enemies.

The United States armed forces are doing an outstanding job against foreign enemies.

"Covert" to Valerie Plame meant that she played the ditzy wife of a "diplomat" and tried to pick up loose bits of information at cocktail parties from drunken foreign diplomats. That's Valerie Plame's "covert status", lol!

Isikoff on Hannity and Colmes has me nervous for the first time about this issue. As he pointed out to Hannity, obviously the SP knows the laws involved, and he wouldn't be looking into this if no law was broken. The thing is, the law broken may not be the one about the "outing a covert" law, but the sharing of classified info. He was pretty convincing as he explained how Fitzgerald seems to be going after that memo that Powell had about Plame, which was just days before the Novak article.

You don't know how much it pains me to say this, but I have to admit, I'm worried.

If an official investigative body can't find bias in Rathergate, I'm pretty sure an official investigative body can't find bias here either.
After all, this is the CIA. They're not going to leave a memo around, outlining a plan to influence the election in Kerry's favor. Even CBS wasn't that stupid.
Funny, though, how in both cases, if you follow the right thread, it isn't long before you link into the Kerry campaign.
Come to think of it, yet another scandal links to Kerry: Sandy Berger was one of his campaign advisors.
Sure was a nest of snakes at Kerry hq, eh? Maybe someone should subpoena him.

When I look back, I believe that McGovern and his peacenic buds were the beginning of the end. Since that time there has been a significant presence of extreme leftists at upper levels of the party. Let's face it, they're just doing what good little socialist cadre members do.

In my state, a grand jury (state law) will permitan attorney to attend the testimony of a juvenile...otherwise, the witnesses are on their own and without counsel.

We already knew what the assault on Rove is about, Senator Dole, it is comforting to know that you get it too.

The only way this works for MSM&D is if Plame was actually covert. There has been numerous threads describing how she could NOT have been covert. In my estimation there's no way she could have been covert according to the law. When asked about her status Wilson will not answer. Plame sure as hell is not confirming or denying anything, so the MSM&D just goes on assuming she was.

Is there a way to find out for sure what her status was? If she wasn't covert why doesn't someone from the CIA in the know just say so, it would hurt no one.

The MSM&D keep saying Rove should have at least checked to see her status before mentioning her, if so, how would he have done that if it so hard now to have someone confirm or deny her status?

Why doesn't the President just demand to know? Why doesn't he clean house over there?

Saw part of the program and it was a bit unsettling. I plan on watching the rerun tonight. Though I suspect that a 2 year investigation will cover a whole bunch of info.

By the way how does Isikoff know this, I thought the Grand Jury was suppose to be a real secret?

He said it was at some hearing. Maybe the dems are repeating their "secret meeting in the cellar of the capitol" and are holding their own "Democrats' grand jury" in someone's office.

One thing that gives me some comfort is that Novak has said his source is a high profile apolitical person which leaves out Rove and others. So based on this who might this source be. The problem still remains though if this was classified info and was shared inappropriately

Which leaves out everyone I like in DC, who are vociferously political.

His description always sounded like Colin Powell to me.
