What the Karl Rove Issue Is Really About

Dear Friend,

The attacks from certain members of the Democratic Party against Karl Rove this week have been an absolute disgrace. This is an attempt at personal destruction and political opportunism at its very worst-it is downright shameless.

It has been reported that the liberal extremist group MoveOn.org has been giving the Democratic leadership direction over the last several months. It comes as no surprise that MoveOn.org was the first to call for Karl Rove's resignation this week.

But for members of Congress to take part in this smear campaign, that's an entirely different and truly unfortunate matter altogether. The Democratic leadership even brought the political attack against Mr. Rove to the floor of the United States Senate on Thursday by offering an amendment to the Homeland Security Appropriations bill that would strip his security clearance. Strip his security clearance based on what, hearsay? What an absolute sham!

This excerpt from a statement from Mr. Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, should help demonstrate why the Democrats are so completely and utterly off base in their political antics:

"Rove has cooperated completely with the special prosecutor, and he has been repeatedly assured he is not a target of the investigation. Rove has done nothing wrong. We're confident that he will not become a target after the special prosecutor has reviewed all evidence."

Majority Leader Bill Frist summed it up quite well in saying, "this is a sad and disappointing afternoon here in the United States Senate."

Based on the information at their disposal, the Democrats have taken reckless partisan attacks to a new level. The Democratic Party leadership is in disarray and they are desperate-attacking has become their modus operandi. They have personally attacked the President's well qualified judicial nominees. They have attacked every single plan that is put forth to address saving Social Security. Howard Dean personally attacked the Republican Party, saying its members have not worked an honest day in their lives. And the Minority Leader Harry Reid personally attacked the President of the United States by calling him a loser and a liar. The Democratic leadership has guided the Party into an abyss-no new ideas, no agenda, just negativity.

Below are some quotes from Senate Democrats that fully acknowledge the points that I am making and should serve as a reminder why it is so important to support the Republican Majority in the United States Senate.

With warmest best wishes,

Elizabeth Dole

I think she is protecting Plame. Because of their common interest in WMDs it probably came out in one of their meetings.

Good call, I think! BTW, Have you noticed Plame hasn't said JACK til that stupid Time interview today, and she doesn't say squat in that...

Plame is helping the dems undermine the President to try to get back power for the dems. The dems are on a mission from hell!

Hillary is Judith Miller's source. Miller is willing to go to jail to protect the viability of the Democratic Party.

The prosecutor long ago figured out that there was no "leak" and no crime. He's now onto other matters, such as the crimes of perjury and obstruction of justice, etc. Although it's likely that Miller is sitting in jail because her testimony would completely exonerat Rove (something the New York Times cannot allow), I believe that it's more likely that Miller is sitting in jail because she doesn't want to perjure herself and she doesn't have the guts to "take the 5th".

"... there is no crime, there is no reason for Miller to be sitting in jail, there was no reason for Fitzgerald to put her there, for not revealing a source"

It's been implied several times that the investigation has "grown tentacles." Miller could very well be sitting in jail in order to keep a particular version of events, or a certain perception, alive in order to prevent some other, less-pleasant notion from gaining traction. That other, less-pleasant notion centers upon CIA attempts at manipulating a domestic presidential election, in my opinion. The attempted manipulation itself sprang from WMD intelligence or purported intelligence. And there you have Judy Miller. You have Valerie Plame, too, as well as her emotionally-needy little international con artist of a husband. But, as partisan, irritating and pathetic as Joe Wilson can be (and is still), he's been quite upfront about his exploits. It's his wife, and possibly her superiors, who have gotten their @sses in a sling here, or so I'm beginning to believe.

"Greenberg & Carville... which one is Lamb Chop & which one is Shari Lewis ?"

Then this Rove story must be..."This is the song that never ends"....made famous by Lamb Chop and Sheri Lewis...

"Who is Miller's source?"

Could this be about a Democrat? On the Intelligence Committee? Or a query that was run from a database that shouldn't exist but whose results, i.e., the connection between Wilson and Plame, got into a reporter's fax inbox?

And, 2008?

Sen. Evan Bayh Admitted The Democrats Have A "Do-Nothing" Problem. "After all, since the Democrats have spent much of the past 30 years talking about saving an endangered Social Security system, how can they now say there is no problem? 'If we become the do-nothing party, we become the default party,' says Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, a 'red state' Democrat. (Gloria Borger, "Meet The New Party Of No," U.S.News & World Report, February 28, 2005)

"the connection between Wilson and Plame, got into a reporter's fax inbox?"

If it's common knowledge on the cocktail circuit grapevine, why would this even be necessary?

Trying to undermine an election is a major NO, NO!

Who really messed up on the WMD?

"Who really messed up on the WMD?"

Where are Saddam's planes that he DID have? How did those nuclear end items end up in a harbor in the Netherlands? How did nuclear material and directions in Chinese end up in Libya?

What did M. Ijaz really say behind closed doors at the 9/11 Commission?

What and who went to Syria at the Iraq War's outbreak--Syria, a Ba'athist state and now a supplier of terrorists and materiel to terrorists in Iraq?

And just what was all that tonage of yellowcake from Niger in Saddam's possession?

Who's to say there were none? With Russia and France on the take, along with numerous Arab states, including Iran and Syria, who's to say except to stash in tunnels or caves what can easily fit in a warehouse?

Interesting that no mention of Klien's book on Hillary has been in the news since Rove has become the only story fit to discuss. Is this all another way to take the heat off of Hillary?

I am liking more and more the theory that Plame is Miller's "source".
Everything fits.

1. They were both involved with weapons of mass destruction - - Miller wrote about them and Plame "worked on WMD" for the CIA - - and it is very possible that their paths crossed. Maybe they crossed because Miller is a relentless, veteran reporter who knows where to dig for info, or maybe they crossed somewhere along the Washington DC cocktail circuit.

2. It explains why Miller doesn't trust her source's waiver of confidentiality - - as an employee of the CIA, Plame could indeed have been "coerced" into waiving confidentiality, and it is very likely that Miller figured this out. (By the way, I have no doubt that Fitzgerald KNOWS who Miller's source is - - he just needs her to testify to it.) In the same vein, it explains why the "source" has not stepped forward even after waiving confidentiality - - Plame's fellow travelers at the CIA, likely including those immediate superiors who signed off on the Wilson-to-Niger scheme - - must have let the NY Times know that they do not want Miller to name Plame.

3. If Miller tesifies that her source was Plame herself then that would completely exonerate Rove, and that is something that the New York Times and their Democrat Party cannot allow.

Everything fits.

"And my efforts, and the efforts of my newspaper to pursue it, ran into a lot of indifference, even in U.S. government circles, except for a small group of FBI and White House officials in the Clinton administration who were absolutely convinced that what they were seeing in the millennium bombing attempts would be a prescription for the future. They were the ones who helped me and helped tell the story...Re: millennium bombing PBS interview

Good point.

Look at all the crap they Dems have spewed of late...

Downing Street, CIA Leak, Gitmo, Abu Grab, Rathergate, Missing Ammunition in Iraq, Losing Bin Laden, Causing not fighting terrorism, Wrecking Social Security, NO WMD's, Illegal war.........

Not once have they said...hey vote for us because we believe........

At least during the Clinton years Repubs came up with the Contract With America that said what they are for.....and remember what the Dems called it...a Contract ON America....that I think was the beginning of the light being shown on how they have no ideas.

The thing that still bothers me is the MSM&D insisting Plame was covert thus causing a leak, they have to insist that because if she wasn't, then Rove is exonerated also...BUT, I can't find any media defending the idea that she was covert thy're just assuming she was as fact, like no one is disputing this?

Do you hear anyone factually trying to show she was covert? I think that's what is perplexing me about her status.

That is so obvious it should have been easy to see...but with all the just from the fever swamp that the MSM is throwing at us...it makes you wonder.

I too am all in that Plame is Miller's source.

Anyone else?
