This too shall pass.

Yep. Hillary and some of the so-called moderates look at this and see a successful beta. Coming soon to the US.
Heck. Bush signed McCain-Feingold, so may be like the rest in wanting politicians and professionals in the media to keep control of political speech.

Many Chinese know other languages, or couldn't they come up with certain code words, I'm sure there are ingenious ways of getting around the censors.

It doesn't say exactly, but one is led to believe that they may be blocking access to some of the hottest porn the net has to offer. I don't even want to ponder the existance of a place where access to onionbooty.com might be restricted.

Good thing you do not work here. The firm has put in filters to keep certain things off the computer.

I just got back from spending several weeks in a small city in the southeast of Yunnan Province. I walked down one street that had a total of seven Internet cafes on its short length. The ones I used tended to be full of people (except after lunch, which is nap time for most people). The controls were not as stiff as those described in Shanghi, but the blocking was still a feature- that, and signs every couple meters on the walls reminding you to be a good little Internet user (complete with a smiling policeman). I was somewhat surprised at what I was able to access- Free Republic, among other things- but of course other things were blocked. Blogger blogs, for example, is blocked all across the board- though Blogger itself is not. Only certain infractions would freeze up the browser. I was able to read some pretty serious stuff about religious persecution in China. Of course, everything I looked up was in English. I am sure the Chinese-language netosphere is more closely regulated.
Oh, and trust me, you can get around the Great Wall pretty easily, if you have the know-how and the goods.

At any given moment, 2 million Chinese are gaming online. One leading portal, NetEase, says that as many as 600,000 users have played its most popular game concurrently. The game is called "Zot".
Players connect to one of many game servers in which they recieve a fast stream of incoming text messages on their screen.
The objective is to quickly click on any messages that use certain words, including "democracy", "human rights", "tibet", etc.
A very popular game. It's origins are unknown...

Couldn't resist this quote;

Of course, that was just before he blew the whole planet to pieces.

You know, it starts out with access denied to jugsliveonline.net and the next thing you know they're crushing employees in the breakroom by tipping over file cabinets.
