Al-Qaida's prime targets for launching nuclear terrorist attacks are the nine U.S. cities with the highest Jewish populations, according to captured leaders and documents.

As first revealed last week in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin, the premium, online intelligence newsletter published by the founder of WND, Osama bin Laden is planning what he calls an "American Hiroshima," the ultimate terrorist attack on U.S. cities, using nuclear weapons already smuggled into the country across the Mexican border along with thousands of sleeper agents.

I posted this about a month ago:

Lets consider the implication of such an attack which kills somewhere around 80,000 Americans and sickens another 80,000.

1. Our governments will be overwhelmed and utterly unable to cope with the injured/sick; virtually all public services will be terminated or reduced affecting water, electricity, sewage, transportation and victualing of the population; tens of thousands will be made homeless; a section of the country will be rendered uninhabitable;a general panic will ensue; martial law will be declared, at least regionally. civil liberties will be suspended in the search for terrorists.

2. Our government will will have no definite knowledge of the perpetrators and no idea against whom to retaliate. Therefore, the government (if there is one wholly intact) will be unable convincingly to assure its citizens that a follow on attack is not imminent. Panic, martial law, the suspension of civil liberties will spread and intensify.

3. Second or third attacks might occur within short intervals. 4. The stock market will crash. The country will be thrown into severe recession, as financial panic spreads and investors flee to gold. International trade virtually halts as other nations fear similar attacks if identified with the US. With a second attack, the economy lapses into depression as millions become unemployed. In the clamor, the government by edict forbids firing, mortgage foreclosures, stock sales. Capitalism in America is gravely threatened. The full faith and credit of America becomes debased as the government tries to ameliorate the crisis by edict.

5. Civil unrest erupts. Martial law will be extended.p> 6. The Left in America, hearing calls from fellow leftists abroad, and acting out of a mixed motivations of fear and ambition, demand the government "negotiate" and ultimately capitulate to the demands of terrorists. When a second attack happens, the demands of the appeasers on the left become irresistible and they obtain political power in America. American is ruled by Islamo-fundamentalists operating through radical left quislings.

5. The American experiment in Republican democracy ends and with it the last best hope for mankind.

What are the odds? Who the hell knows. I do know that the head of the CIA thinks there is a likelihood that we will be hit within 10 years. Even if the odds are small, it seems incomprehensible to me that we have not closed our borders to unauthorized crossings, that we have not staffed up first responders better, that we have not in general prepared the citizenry of the real possibility of just such a scenario.

Finally, I do not understand how, given this calamity in the wake of attack on our country, that the debate on the war against terror has descending to a debate over fraternity high jinks in Abu Garib or Koran etiquette in Gitmo.

The net effect will be that you have to take away so much from the rational real defense needs that a new attack by fundamentalists will become much, much more MORE of a possibility.

I appreciate you keeping it respectful but your statement begs the question did you or anyone consider the methods used by the terrorists as rational prior to 9/11/01? Now we do consider terrorists using planes as WMD's as a ratinoal real defense and plan accordingly.

Sorry but this is a doomsday scenario I can't agree with. Even under that 80,000 calamity the USA won't collapse. The country won't throw civil liberties out of the window at such pace. South Americans will never be able to storm the USA in the way you described.
I am afraid that this type of thinking (which is extremely fearful) serves as a brilliant excuse to whitewash the atrocities committed in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay (why the playful Gitmo for such an inhuman camp by the way? The cowardice is visible in that it's on Cuban ground).

That's assuming MS-13 Knows what they are helping to smuggle into the U.S. It's at least possible the terrorists are either not telling MS-13 what they are smuggling or the terrorists are lying to MS-13 about what they are smuggling. Maybe MS-13 doesn't want to know. Maybe both parties agreed to a don't ask don't tell policy. Who knows?

Miami is a toss up.

Lot of Democratic Jews, lot of Republican Cubans.
In no way is it blue like the major cities of NY, etc are.

But it is a blue concentration in Florida, as most every inner city is.
