The Plot Thickens – Matthew Cooper lied.

Posted on 07/17/2005 9:50:46 AM PDT by Pukin Dog

If you did not see Matthew Coopers performance this morning on Meet the Press, you should have, because it gave away the plot for the attack on Karl Rove.

Cooper flat-out lied when he told Tim Russert that he first heard the identity of Joe Wilson’s wife from Rove. Rove never mentioned the woman’s name, only that Wilson’s wife worked for the CIA. He never said who that woman was.

Cooper, clearly under orders to keep the fake-scandal alive, told that whopper to Tim Russert, because without it, the story would die a quick death.

Remember what is going on here.

This is not about Rove, it is about the Supreme Court. The goal is not to just ‘get Rove’ as some are saying, but to create an environment where the Democrats can garner enough public opinion to begin arguing that George Bush should not be allowed to set the direction of the Supreme Court while under this cloud of suspicion.

The Democrats are working toward connecting the fake Rove Scandal to Bush, which can only happen after Karl Rove’s security clearance is revoked. If that happens, the Democrats can then accuse Rove of nefarious activities which he will not be able to defend against without the ability to either access or reference classified material. The Democrats want Rove’s clearance so that he can be framed.

So what you saw today, was the husband of one of Hillary Clinton’s main lieutenants lying on television to keep a dying story alive. Matthew Cooper is without credibility and should not be trusted.

Before anyone asks me, none of the above is the product of my personal opinion.

Again, your SCOUTS theory could be right (and I'm sure it is to some degree) - But there is nothing to this "faked scandal" and that is the bottom line.

This Rove story is already dead and by August 1st no one will remember it (in the general public) nor will the MSM still be covering it. It's already over and the MSM knows it...they are just milking the last few drops from it.

they NEVER thought Kerry would lose

That's true. They also can't force an impeachment through a Rebublican majority in the House, but they're deluded enough to think that they have a chance.

It's disturbing to realize how separated from reality the leftists have become.

Bingo, and to take it a step further, why wood Rove let Cooper off the hook (so Cooper wouldn't also have to go to jail)in disclosing Rove's name?

Another poster put the name of Mandy Grunewald out there as Copper's wife. Is that true? So far, I've never seen that brought up by Cooper or anyone in the MSM.

Washington is so incestuous that 'full disclosure' of political connections should be de riguer.

They are trying to inflate and revive road kill by blowing up its rear-end. Of course it's connected to SCOTUS, the libs, the msm, the dems are trying to build a lever to keep Roe v Wade honky-dory. And they have plenty of long poles for that lever -- but what they don't have is a fulcrum. Some solid ground of truth to plant that lever's fulcrum on.

They have no toehold in any land of truth anymore -- so indulgent have they been.

Yeah, It's pretty tough for the Commies to make this garbage stick without Walter Cronkite spoon-feeding it to the public every night at 6 o'clock.

Notice how all the screaming heads of the DNC while screaming for Rove's scalp are not mentioning Miller being in jail. If they did someone might ask the embarassing question, "Is Miller in jail to protect Karl Rove?"

One can only imagine the laughter across this nation if that got out on ABCNNBCBS tv's screaming DNC heads on this Sunday.

Libs are fine with Miller in jail. They hate her anyway, because she reported WMD info favorable to Bush. If she talks, she will never work in Washington again, and she knows it. I look forward to HER book.

That's similar to what was going on with Wilson's editorial comments: Administration said that Iraq was seeking Yellowcake...Wilson said they were lying because his trip showed that Niger wasn't selling them any - not that Wilson's comments didn't fall apart anyways, but fundementally these two statements aren't in opposition.

Is Valerie Plame her real name or a made up name?

This is a farcical version of the Plame game!

I remember Rove's answer to Cooper was "You heard that, too? when asked about Wilson's wife.

Rove did not bring up Wilson's wife to Cooper. Cooper brought it up to Rove.

Rove never mentioned the woman’s name, only that Wilson’s wife worked for the CIA.

That kindof misses the point. The issue was if Rove had known not just that whe worked for the administration, but that she was a covert agent who the CIA had taken "affirmative measures" to create a hidden identity...and that further, he had learned of this through internal sources. From a legal point of view there are several other measures of intent that need be demonstrated too, but that is sufficient.

Even if he had said her name, unless he took information from "inside" and made it known "outside", it is not leaking. It is in no way illegal to repeat reporters comments to another reporter, and several reporters - both liberal and conservative - came out and said that they had known Plame worked for the CIA before Novak's column came out. Further, it is not illegal to state that someone works for the CIA (unless it is false) - ONLY to out an "undercover" or clandestine agent.

There have been widespread reports that George Tenet worked for the CIA. Porter Goss too.

This fuss is to make it SOUND like Clintonian malfeasance...which is the whole point of many of the Dem attacks.

Russert works off of the template that,

Richard Nixon is all Republicans,
and all Republicans are Richard Nixon.

Yes, it is true. They were married while the Clintons were still in the White House (Hillary threw a shower for her) and they are the recent parents of a baby girl.

Can anyone get confirmation that Cooper's wife works for Hilary Clinton?

If anything this seems like an orchestrated false testimony (see Bill's orgestration of a fake affidavit in Paula Jones).

The story behind the story may have MORE legs if it can be traced back to Hitlary.

This IS all about Rove. The MD Dems have gotten their panties in a wad over Rove helping out with a Michael Steele fundraiser. They are seriously concerned about the Senate seat in MD, and think by taking out Rove it will help them keep the MD seat and also keep Repub money out of MD.

This is despicable, but they are desparate.

This needs no confirmation, it is common knowledge who Cooper's wife is and who she works for.
