John King on CNN, after politely and deferentially interviewing Saddam Hussein's defense attorney, is grilling (interrupting, shouting questions, snidely asking questions) RNC Chief Ken Melhman on Rove "scandal". I guess we're seeing who CNN thinks is the "real" enemy.

I agree. I don't recall seeing Podesta in quite some time - interesting he's coming out on this. Makes me think even a bit more that the Clintoon's have something to do w this.
BTW - this lie about 'utmost national security' seems to be 1 of the Dims new talking points.

Before you go, I bet you are glad, as we are, that Cheney's physical went well yesterday...

they said today that he has a small case of acid-reflux, but considering the idiots in Washington that he has to put up with, I suppose he is lucky it is only a small case!!!

Podesta is now heading one of those socialist, lefty groups, like MOVEON.ORG, or American Progressives for Socialism (made up by me), or somesuch...

I do know that he is in contact with Howard Dean, and Hillary re: the elections coming up.

If there were a statute that said anyone requesting a special prosecutor and no guilt is found, that person (i.e. Schumer) must pay all costs involving said prosecution.

Wonder how many GJ's would be seated if that were the case?

John Gibson and Brit Hume are the main reasons I continue to watch Fox News...

Me too! For years I couldn't stand to look at Gibson because he reminds me a LOT of someone I used to work with who was smarmy and the biggest brown-nose I've ever known, and who would also stab anyone in the back that he had to (and did). Lately Gibson has come out as decidedly conservative and I swear he's actually become adorable. Brit's mind is a aphrodesiac, IMO.

Nothing new appeared to come out in the Cooper interview on unReliable Sources.

COOPER: ... about Saddam Hussein trying to get uranium in Africa to make nuclear weapons. The White House that week said it may be true, but it was not checked out well enough to merit it being in the State of the Union address. So there was a big controversy on that. And I called Rove with that on my mind.

And he did indeed give me a warning, saying don't get too far out on Wilson, which I took to mean don't lionize Wilson, don't believe everything you hear about Wilson.

KURTZ: Now, you also say, let's read from the article, put it up on the screen -- "This was the first time I had heard anything about Wilson's wife. Rove never once indicated to me that she had any kind of covert status."

What was his tone? Did you have the impression he was trying to disparage or undermine Joe Wilson, to influence the tone of your article?

COOPER: I thought it was disparaging towards Wilson. I thought it was sort of guiding and spoken with great confidence. And as I said, before the -- in "Time" this week, as I said -- and I told the grand jury -- before that conversation, I had never heard about anything about Joe Wilson's wife. After that conversation, I knew that she worked at the CIA, and worked on WMD issues. But as I made clear to the grand jury, I'm certain Rove never used her exact name and certainly never indicated she had a covert status.

One thing we must NO forget when listening to interviews and reading articles about this...especially if you read the latest article in TIME from Matt Cooper, is....

Matt Coopers is married to a woman that is not only friends with, but works for Hillary Clinton...therfore, anything he does or says must be considered against that backdrop...

I am SURE that Hillary has told him how to get around the truth....she and her husband have done it for decades!!!

DOES ANYONE HAVE DETAILS TO BACK THIS UP?

This could explain Hitlary's current disapearance. Why is the MSM not reporting this?

Sid Vicious Blumnthal was famous for lying anyhere and everywhere for the clintons. Why not cooper? ESPECIALLY if he has to protect his clinton employed wife's job. (life?)

Coult this be an attack on Bush national security credentials to bring Republicans are strong on security so Hitlary can be more viable?

THIS IS WHAT REAL REPORTERS SHOULD BE DIGGING INTO!

Not just reading the daily DNC talking points! TO MSM: DO YOUR &%@^$@* JOBS!!!!

before that conversation, I had never heard about anything about Joe Wilson's wife.

Then, how could Rove have answered, "You heard that, too?"

Cooper can't seem to keep his stories straight.

His wife Mandy (?) Grunwald, does work for Hillary and is a big wig in democrap politics in New York...

So you KNOW that Cooper is being told by Hillary/George Soros, probably through his wife, what to say and when to smear the Bush Administration the most, but not get his own butt indicted!

I heard when Judy Miller went to jail, that she would supposedly become a media "hero" for her stance, but I don't remember hearing her name come up much at all since then....poor, poor, Judy!

Then, how could Rove have answered, "You heard that, too?"

I thought that line was from Rove's conversation with Novak. Cooper's notes record "apparently with the CIA."

Reporters are simply beginning to irritate the daylights out of me.  They are running around screaming that the emperor has no clothes, parsing words and in general hyping a non-story. The real story is Joe Wilson and his wife Valerie Plame. Why did this man go to Niger? His wife sent him right? But, why did she want to send him? To send her hubby on an expense paid trip to Niger? I doubt it. To get him out of the house so she could have an affair? I doubt that also. She would say that it was to get intelligence information on a rumor that Niger was selling uranium to Iraq. But that begs the question, why send a diplomat? Diplomats are trained to lie, they are not trained to gather intelligence. One had to realize that J.Wilson couldn't possibly gather more information than MI-6 while drinking sweet tea with diplomats who are trained to lie nearly as well as the ambassador.

So what was the motive of this trip all along? Let's assume that Wilson returned and reported the truth that Niger didn't sell yellow cake to Iraq. Let's assume that the government believed him but for other reasons wanted to continue the story of the uranium connection.  As a United States diplomat, I can assure you it wouldn't be the first time this man was asked to lie with a poker face for the US.  Could you imagine what would happen if all diplomats got indignant every time they were asked to lie for their government and ran to the press to blow the whistle?

So why did he go to the press even if what he said were true?

We all know that he is the most discredited man in Washington.  By-partisan Senate Intelligence committee has confirmed that he is a liar. British intelligence has confirmed he is a liar. The entire planet knows he is a liar (with the exception of the MSM and Chuck Schumer), but that still doesn't answer the question that all reporters are not asking.  Why lie to damage a policy arrived at legally by both houses of congress and the administration?

Was Wilson on the take from Hussein like his British counterpart Galloway? I doubt it. As misguided as J.Wilson might have been and still is, I believe he is a patriot of sorts.

What else important was going on in America at this time? As I recall the campaigning of Democratic candidates started very early in 2003. Could it be possible that Wilson was a hack for national Democrats planted to do damage to the president?  Look at poll numbers. Most Americans have no clue what is going on where it concerns Karl Rove. All they know is there is some "big stink" about an administration employee leaking the identity of a CIA agent and by golly someone should get a rope.

Hopefully the special prosecutor is asking these questions, because reporters damn sure are not. If Wilson would have come back and told the truth ("I drank tea and didn't learn anything"), his wife would not have been mentioned in any articles. But instead he came home and told lies, and these lies to the American public were being corrected by Karl Rove. If her name was never  used, the story would have been focused on why this man lied, if the story was reported at all.

I think the "You heard that too" line was from the Rove conversation with Novak. But Rove talked with Cooper after Rove heard about Wilson's wife from Novak & other journalists.

Here is the Newsweek info on the Cooper/Rove email:
In a brief conversation with Rove, Cooper asked what to make of the flap over Wilson's criticisms. NEWSWEEK obtained a copy of the e-mail that Cooper sent his bureau chief after speaking to Rove. (The e-mail was authenticated by a source intimately familiar with Time's editorial handling of the Wilson story, but who has asked not to be identified because of the magazine's corporate decision not to disclose its contents.) Cooper wrote that Rove offered him a "big warning" not to "get too far out on Wilson." Rove told Cooper that Wilson's trip had not been authorized by "DCIA"—CIA Director George Tenet—or Vice President Dick Cheney. Rather, "it was, KR said, wilson's wife, who apparently works at the agency on wmd [weapons of mass destruction] issues who authorized the trip." Wilson's wife is Plame, then an undercover agent working as an analyst in the CIA's Directorate of Operations counterproliferation division. (Cooper later included the essence of what Rove told him in an online story.) The e-mail characterizing the conversation continues: "not only the genesis of the trip is flawed an[d] suspect but so is the report. he [Rove] implied strongly there's still plenty to implicate iraqi interest in acquiring uranium fro[m] Niger ... "

Weasley Clark on Fox right now---

Laurie Dhue just asked him about the British MI-5 letting one of the bomber go last year, that was involved in this...

Let us all remember his answer....He said that things like that happen no matter how good intelligence is...that some people just get through...

WE have to remember what he said, because IF there is an attack here in the US, and we find out that one of the terrorists had been questioned by the CIA (Bush's CIA) and written off as not involved in terrorism, HE CANNOT come on Fox and blame the Bush CIA...

File this under "things to remember"!

I was thinking that the Clintons and their ilk want Rove out of there or discredited so that he can't manage the campaign for her opponent...if it gets that far!

Now, I am really confused! lOL

From Powerline:

http://powerlineblog.com/archives/011062.php

Missing from the AP's breathless account is the fact that Cooper, not Libby, brought up the fact that Plame was responsible for sending Joe Wilson to Niger. Time's online exclusive, "Matthew Cooper: What I Told The Grand Jury", says:

On background, Cooper had asked Libby if he had heard anything about Wilson’s wife sending him to Niger. Libby
answered with words to the effect of “Yeah, I’ve heard that too.”
