Republican congreesional members' constituents care more about immigration and border security than any othe issue, according to a new congressional insiders poll.

Seventeeen of the 37 Republican House and Senate members who responded to the National Journal's survey identified immigration as the issue "most on the minds of your consituents these days." That easily topped the next closest issue, the economy, which gained 10 votes, followed by gasoline prices with four votes and terrorism with threee votes.

One Republican called immigration the "highest-octane issue in America," while another said, "It is here that the mismatch between the federal government's inaction and the realities at home is the greatest."

Rep. Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican who runs the House Immigration Reform Caucus, has said other members of Congress have come up to him recently and said immigration is a dominant issue when they return home for recess periods.

Of 25 Democratic members of Congress who responded, just two mentioned immigration as the top issue for constituents....

The Democrats don't consider fiscal responsibility a terribly high priority either, yet somehow, non-defense spending went up more slowly during the Clinton years than during the Bush years. How ever could that be?

(Hint: the answer can be found by more thoroughly looking over the post you were responding to, instead of just reading the first sentence)

Aw, Geez. I was just about to cut some Z's. Now I'll never get any sleep. Well, that's as bad as when Clinton was trying to make us into "one world".

I'll move to Jesusland if our sovereignty is under minded to such an extent.

Now I'll never get any sleep.

That reaction isn't surprising after reading that article...it's downright scary!

I'll need to bone up on my Spanish, as well as learn French from ground up. Additionally, you know we'll have to keep a handle on "Liberaleze:

within the "mainstream" of American philosophy = to the left of center

"undocumented worker" = illegal immigrant

"insurgent" = international terrorost

Why don't we, Joe Six pack send our esteemed Congressmen and Senators pesos bills in an envelope with the caption, that they will get just pesos for their reelection campaign, if the Border Issue is not addressed in earnest.

BRILLIANT!!

Now how do I get ahold of a few pesos, and how much are they worth?

"Immigration worries Republicans."

Yeah, and it should. It should have been worrying them for about the last 20 years. But better now than in '08. Maybe if we make enough of a stink now, the party will be positioned more realistically by then. But there isn't that much time.

We won't have time to learn all the languages, we'll be too busy working so we can pay for all the undocumented workers and insurgents, IF we still have jobs, that is.

It is an intriguing idea. A courteous handwritten post-it note applied to a solicitation request should be as effective,...though less colorful.

Actually, if you send a peso, the receiving clerk will automatically know he's been punk'd by a Freeper.

Why not keep one's money, if one is not going to have any action, either way?

Well, if you have blinders on and your only worried about one issue(immigration), I guess you could justify it...?

What is the name that the Mexicans have for California,...I'm sure you're familiar with this concept that they are trying to recapture it for the motherland.

Are you familiar with this?? There is some kind of movement.

Congressman Duncan Hunter from Southern California is one Republican to watch. He's pro-military and pro-legal immigration. He's not waiting for his fence to come from Washington. He's been building one in his district.

More and more Americans who have lost their jobs to illegal aliens are finding the time to learn Spanish as their primary language.

Time to stop supporting businesses that hire illegal aliens and to raise awareness of the issue.

The Mexicans call it "Atzlan". They think they own the southwest. One of their sayings is "This Is Are Land".

Yes, that's the way they spelled "Our". Rocket scientists they're NOT.

Seems a bit short to me.

Is there some shortage of razorwire out there? I don't see any on this model. This would seem to be a strong deterrent to me. Maybe it's not very polite??

Yeah, that's it. Is this a pervasive movement, or just something kicked around among wing-nuts and gadflys.
