7/15/2005 - RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (AFPN) -- A master sergeant was sentenced to a dishonorable discharge, a demotion to E-1 and 42 months confinement July 15 for charges involving the distribution of controlled weighted airman promotion system testing materials.
Master Sgt. J. Abdur Rahim Saafir, of the 469th Air Base Group at Rhein-Main Air Base, was charged with violations of Uniform Code of Military Justice articles 80, 81 and 92.
Sergeant Saafir pleaded guilty to most of the charges and specifications July 14 when his trial began here.
The sentence was decided by a military judge.
There have been a lot of senior officers and enlisted being punished in scandals lately. The Clintons promoted officers who are good politicians, not leaders, and the military in general has leadership problems. It's going to take some time to purge them.
When I post these kinds of articles, I'm not trying to dump on the military. 99% of them are standup guys who do the right thing and have integrity. It's the 1% dirtbags that are killing the system and these whacks need to go.
Master Sgt. J. Abdur Rahim Saafir, Humm wonder what HE is.
I agree with what you said.
Military is ratcheting up things again. (Which is good)
They certainly dropped the hammer on this guy. No one has stated what he did which was distribute test answers for promotions. Bad juju as we used to say
And I wonder who he was trying to get unfairly promoted?
I wish there could be a little more amplification, such as to whom did he distribute the answers? Was it a general distribution? Or more likely, a "selective" distribution?
I'm sure he is a goooood Mooooooo-slum.
Who Cares
Homeboy went from Master Seargent (E-7) to the rank of Airman Basic (E-1)
Hammer got dropped hard and sent a message that everyone in the forces heard.
Me cares.
Agreed, but where I was going is that regardless of the circumstances Jusice's hammer was dropped.
I'm tired of sensational news, I'm just glad to see some non-sensational hammer dropping
WAPS - Weighted Airman Promotion System. Point system for promotion from E5 (Staff Sergeant) to E9 (Chief Master Sergeant). Points are given for time in grade, time in service, decorations, and two tests. The tests are the Performance Fitness Exam (PFE), a 100 question test on general Air Force knowledge that everyone competing for the same promotion needs to know, and the Specialist Knowledge Test (SKT), a 100 question test on knowledge within your particular job or skill. Everyone takes the PFE, different questions for each grade, and each Airman takes a job specific SKT to compete against others within his or her career field. At least, that was what the tests were called when I retired 14 years ago. Because everyone takes the PFE my guess is that he was giving out, or selling, copies of that test. Anyone who obtained a copy of the PFE, or was approached and did not report it, could be just as guilty as this fellow was.

Oh, he's still in...for another 42 months, then he's outta here. From my Air Force perspective I say "Good Riddance."
I am in agreement with the points made by you and SShultz460. As you can tell, I am suspecting a kind of "favoritism." But another thing I am wondering is how many times this has already happened. I suspect that this has happened more than once, but this time, someone blew the whistle.
I suspect you are right on the money ....
Homeboy went from Master Seargent (E-7) to the rank of Airman Basic (E-1)
And he's going to prison to boot....
Yes, I can't think of any folks who have difficulty doing well on written tests off the top of my head.
Now he's a convicted felon.
