Lawmakers Ask Santorum to Apologize

The Massachusetts congressional delegation Friday sent a letter to a Pennsylvania senator demanding an apology for what they called his "outrageous, erroneous and insensitive" comments in a column linking Boston's liberalism to the clergy sex abuse scandal.
"We are deeply disturbed that you would offend Massachusetts by using an abuse scandal, one that has been mirrored in your state and in others, to score cheap political points with far right political groups," said the 10 lawmakers in a letter to Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa.
A spokesman for Santorum said Friday that the senator stands by his comments. Spokesman Robert Traynham said it was very sad that Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., and other Democratic liberals "have decided to politicize comments that were three years old."
Santorum wrote in the July 2002 column for Catholic Online that promoting alternative lifestyles feeds such aberrant behavior as priests molesting children.
"Priests, like all of us, are affected by culture," Santorum wrote. "When the culture is sick, every element in it becomes infected. While it is no excuse for this scandal, it is no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm."
In their letter the lawmakers said Santorum's comments which came to light again in recent newspaper columns were hurtful to the victims of the clergy sex abuse. On Wednesday, in a speech from the Senate chamber, Kennedy called for Santorum to apologize.
"I think people have really been offended and outraged," said Rep. William Delahunt, D-Mass., "It really reflects on the senator. It certainly doesn't reflect on the people of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania deserves better that him."

I'd like to see the Swimmer prove the above statement wrong; it's dead-on as far as I'm concerned.

If statements from three years ago need to be dredged up and apologies demanded, maybe we can dig up some of the outrageous quotes of other senators from three years ago and demand apologies.
I'd suggest starting with someone who claimed torture at Abu Ghraib was under "new management".

I hope Santorum doesn't apologize or even dignify those whiny-assed babies' cries for an apology. It's about time those Leftists did realize that their permissiveness does indeed encourage deviancy in its most decadent forms.

"We are deeply disturbed that you would offend Massachusetts ..."
Its not possible to "offfend" a state that elects and re-elects an inebriated murdering sot, a backdoor three dollar bill, and traitor, years after year after year.
Massachusetts, like New York, California and New Jersey, is a snakepit and a cesspool.

Yep, let's start with Sheets Byrd and the "N" word he sputtered on Fox News Sunday. That should wad the Dim's panties.

Oh my... liberals get so touchy over being critized. They don't have any standards so what are they getting all huffy about? A conservative doesn't have a right to express an opinion? Rick Santorum showed them up as crybabies and he doesn't need to apologize for telling the truth.

As you say, it is dead on. Big time. There is a reason for it and it is that perverts of all sorts, from all over, tend to drift towards regions that are more permissive, and away from those that make them uncomfortable.

I just checked and the state motto of Massachusetts is,
"Touch the snake little girl"
or
"I hope you know how to swim"

These stupos are always asking for an apology. As usual, they have nothing to back it up with.
I guess this is one of their little tricks of the trade in their manafesto.
To: Crackingham
Santorum should come back with something like "Any state that will permit people to drown in an Oldsmobile will tolerate anything -- even sexual abuse of children

Massachusetts, like New York, California and New Jersey, is a snakepit and a cesspool. I agree; and I live in Massachusetts. Seriously the problem is the utter entrenchment of Liberal corruption. I'm not that optimistic about whether or not this state can be saved.

Dear Representatives of Massachussetts,
I am heartily sorry that your liberal philosophy has produced such abuses.
Sincerely
Sen Santorum

In all this, neither the media nor Santorum will simply challenge Kennedy et al. with such direct questions as, "Are you offended because I say you support the homosexual agenda, when you really don't support it? Or are you offended that I suggest your embrace of that agenda has far-reaching negative consequences?"
