Well the new Harry Potter book has arrived and I can report the first page of the first chapter contains an obvious jab at our president. The book begins with the British Prime Minister awaiting a phone call from the "President" of an unnamed distant country, and wondering when the "wretched man" would call.
As a fan of the books and for that matter of Rowling's personal story and success, I'm saddened that liberal madness had to invade this children's classic. The first chapter was otherwise perfectly enjoyable.
I'm not saying anything else in the chapter was intentionally connected to current events, but I had to draw the comparison with what has ended up in British headlines at the same time as the book release. In the book, the Prime Minister is dealing with unexplained events, at least some of which could be terrorist like. Indeed, they are the work of sinister forces. Whereas I'm sure in this book series, ultimate help will come from the wizarding world, in reality Britain needs the support of the leader J.K. Rowling refers to as that "wretched man." How sadly misguided.
Why politicize it all
Rats use children as one of their many excuses for statism. But they have no respect for childhood. They will use any and all means of propaganda.
"lose more than they will ever gain"?
How so?
Much ado about nothing...
I have my Red Bull, and cheater glasses at the ready with the new book yet unopened....I'll have to get back to this thread later.
Each copy of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is 672 pages long and weighs 2.2 pounds. But this is not the
longest book - that was "Order of the Phoenix," which was
896 pages long.
Yup..those evil kids READING sooo much, when they should be out getting into trouble (vandalizing, shoplifting, drug use, etc etc). Put down the crackpipe and come back to reality.
I'll wait for the movie.
I do believe that it has been established that Harry was born in 1980. Let's see, he is 16 in this book, which makes it 1996.
Who was President in 1996? I do believe I agree with the Prime Minister in this case.
I always wondered how she could accept all that money from American book sales? But I guess those liberals can rationalize a way around such a moral dilemma.
With that said I do enjoy the books, however the third movie was a load of shite!
I am a fan of the books and my daughter had a great time getting this one at midnight, but she's taking a shot at Bush, that's obvious.
Its summer time they should be outside playing... Why didnt she release this in the winter?
Large type, short sentences.
Get a grip. The HP books take place in the mid 90s. Clues in the books point to HP being born in 1980 and going to Hogwarts starting in 1991. That would put book 6 starting in 1996 WHEN CLINTON WAS PRESIDENT.
Could have been a made up country, Russia or lord knows what.
I wouldn't take it so seriously unless the author made it known it was her intent.
If she confesses such intent, then boycott her.
I thought it was Vicente Fox or Chirac... wretched little worm is my nickname for both
Maybe the dumb liberal b*tch was thinking the same thing.
oh i get, it make a huge looking book so the kiddies will have a false sense of accomplishment. I see.
I do believe that it has been established that Harry was born in 1980. Let's see, he is 16 in this book, which makes it 1996. Who was President in 1996? I do believe I agree with the Prime Minister in this case.
The logic is irrefutable.
