First Page Of New Harry Potter Book Takes Swipe At Bush
Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

Well the new Harry Potter book has arrived and I can report the first page of the first chapter contains an obvious jab at our president. The book begins with the British Prime Minister awaiting a phone call from the "President" of an unnamed distant country, and wondering when the "wretched man" would call.
As a fan of the books and for that matter of Rowling's personal story and success, I'm saddened that liberal madness had to invade this children's classic. The first chapter was otherwise perfectly enjoyable.
I'm not saying anything else in the chapter was intentionally connected to current events, but I had to draw the comparison with what has ended up in British headlines at the same time as the book release. In the book, the Prime Minister is dealing with unexplained events, at least some of which could be terrorist like. Indeed, they are the work of sinister forces. Whereas I'm sure in this book series, ultimate help will come from the wizarding world, in reality Britain needs the support of the leader J.K. Rowling refers to as that "wretched man." How sadly misguided.

spirits not of God may transmit messages to humans willing to receive them; God commanded us not to receive them, and also told us that those messages were mostly lies. THAT you don't need to tell me!
The real one came through 5 by 5...

Your contributions to this thread alone prove that to be most unlikely. How judgmental of you. That is not your province, or have you forgotten?

It doesn't have to be my "province", it's my opinion, to which I am entitled and there's not a thing you can do about it.
But don't let me interrupt your fervent defense of the occult.
Carry on.

I said you were going off the deep end because you said people are worshiping Harry Potter. I don't think any of us are going to St. Hogwart's tomorrow morning.
When you say things like that you have to realize that it takes away from your more reasoned arguements.

I'm referring to the whole series, not to the book that was made into the movie. The Wizard becomes more deeply involved in magic in subsequent volumes, there are many magical folk who use potions and the like. there is a magical belt, magic pearls that give wisdom and strength, and evil nomes that can be vanquished only with eggs. (The latter is clear support for abortion rights.)

They are wonderful. Must be 10 or more of them. I loved them as a kid, and am now on my third read through to my kids. Baum was quite prolific, despite his health problems.

No need to, you've invited St. Hogwart and all of their congregation into your own home.
Think about that.
When you say things like that you have to realize that it takes away from your more reasoned arguements.
Even a casual review of the global frenzy over "Harry Potter" can only lead to a conclusion that there is most certainly "worship" going on. That is the nature of sinful man, to worship that which has been created, and not the Creator. To elevate and glorify that which defiles the human soul, while at the same time seeking to blaspheme and make a mockery of the very God to Whom we owe our existence.
We need less of Harry Potter, and more of Harry Monroe (hint: he was the street preacher who actually converted the evangelist Billy Sunday).

Oz had absolutely nothing to do with the occult. Not true. Baum and his wife were practicing theosophists.
Baum's mother-in-law, Matilda Joslyn Gage, was a radical lesbian feminist who traveled with the Baums and influenced them daily. Baum said he even named the main character of his later books, Princess Osma, after Gage: Matilda Joslyn Gage.
This from the horse's mouth...
A Notable Theosophist: L. Frank Baum
There's a much darker story behind the green curtain than most people realize.
But, hey, they're just words. And as we've been told, words have no power, right?

Fair enough.
I'll tell you what: you can have all the fun you want with Harry, and I will seek after God in my life every minute of every day. I am no man of God, I am nothing but a sinner saved by Grace, but I will not compromise with that which is evil in His Sight.
Harry Potter isn't going to get me into Heaven, but Jesus Christ will, and did.

I saw a Harry Potter film once, and the next day, I turned my car into a driveway.
