Odd, but the French have this one right:
Mr Sarkozy said he would seek the expulsion of imams in France "whose sermons are radical".

Won't that just make the terrorists mad and cause them to increase their attacks?</European Logic>

Sarkozy said they would face "expulsion" and also that they would be "punished." I don't view these as the same things.

The French are slow to anger, but once they have the momentum they can go a long ways.

Two days ago, France reimposed border controls with its EU neighbours following the London bombings.Hmmm. It seems the EU dream of a borderless Europa has gone a glimmering...amazing what a little wake up call can accomplish.
On the whole, very encouraging news.

Just what is radical to a frog? Not waving the flag? Seriously if they really follow through with it it would be great. But you know there are a whole bunch of lefties that are screaming, "This will only make it worse! They're really going to mad at us now! If we get bombed it's going to be our fault!" I can hear the idiots right now.

OK, so who gets the job of sitting in each of the mosques on Fridays listening to sermons in Arabic listening for violence...and what stops the imam from just waiting until the government observer isn't there to preach violence?

If the frogs have suddenly grown some stones and carry through on the threat to expel radical imams I just might have to change my mind and say: "Vive la France!"

Not gonna happen. France is a Muslim country and those clerics are the real rulers.
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy has vowed to deport any Muslim cleric preaching violence.
Bout time.

"The [French] republic is not a weak regime and it does not have to accept speech which on the pretext that it is happening in a place of worship calls for hate and murder. An obvious swipe at Tony Blair, and Blair deserves it. The Brits have tolerated open calls for Blair's murder and terrorism in their streets for far too long. Instead of Scotland Yard asking for Imams to work with them, they should be throwing them on the next flight out.

Expulsion is better than nothing, but it isn't a solution. It just moves them elsewhere where they can influence new people who can immigrate or strike elsewhere.
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
This guy is incredible. I hope the french are smart enough to elect him to replace Chirac.
