It doesn't look good for Karl Rove (John Dean of Nixon fame chimes in)
CNN ^ | 7-15-05 | John Dean

Posted on 07/15/2005 12:10:50 PM PDT by Indy Pendance

(FindLaw) -- As the scandal over the leak of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity has continued to unfold, there is a renewed focus on Karl Rove -- the White House deputy chief of staff whom President Bush calls his political "architect."

Newsweek has reported that Matt Cooper, in an e-mail to his bureau chief at Time magazine, wrote that he had spoken "to Rove on double super-secret background for about two min[ute]s before he went on vacation ..." In that conversation, Rove gave Cooper "big warning" that Time should not "get too far out on Wilson."

Rove was referring, of course, to former Ambassador Joe Wilson's acknowledgment of his trip to Africa, where he discovered that Niger had not, in fact, provided uranium to Iraq that might be part of a weapons of mass destruction (WMD) program.

Cooper's email indicates that Rove told Cooper that Wilson's trip had not been authorized by CIA Director George Tenet or Vice President Dick Cheney; rather, Rove claimed, "it was ... [W]ilson's wife, who apparently works at the agency on [WMD] issues who authorized the trip." (Rove was wrong about the authorization.)

Only the special counsel, Patrick Fitzgerald, and his staff have all the facts on their investigation at this point, but there is increasing evidence that Rove (and others) may have violated one or more federal laws. At this time, it would be speculation to predict whether indictments will be forthcoming.

It says "Bush, Rove, and Tom Delay are all from Texas, a coincidence? I think not" Then goes on to say how Rove spells his name with a k, just like the Klan, and to do anything you can to get Rove out of Washington....because we can't. LOL!!!

I think Rove's position is strengthening if his source turns out to be columnist Robert Novak. That would shift the attention to where the Novak got word of the CIA connection. It's still much too early to make a good determination as to what really occurred.

I got that you're upset because I didn't "catch" it ~ maybe you should look at your attachment to being upset. :)

For some reason this makes me laugh and reminds me of Monty Python.

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you're chewing life's gristle,
Don't grumble,
Give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistle]

If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle.
That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistle]

All this Rove slander is having its intended effect, to smear President Bush by proxy. The polls are down over the past several days. Even Rasmussen has him below fifty, which is very unusual. I know, it's just polling, but still it's aggravating. I think they're doing the right thing by fighting back, but sometimes it seems like they should just clam up and not talk to ANYBODY. A reporter asks about Rove--no comment, next question. When Senators hold a press conference to stick up for him, I guess that's a good thing, but on the other hand it's almost like giving credibility to the charges in a way.

Sorry for the downer post, it's just really getting to me. Maybe it'll fall off the front page after the SCOTUS nomination comes out.

John Dean has been used as the supreme scandal expert by liberals and their media whores every time they manufacture a scandal(lie) against President Bush or his administration. The problem for Dean that all his predictions that these scandals will finish the Bush presidency have been proven extremely wrong because all these manufactured scandals in fact backfired on liberals and their media whores. This lLame "non story" is no different and I wonder if this idiot John Dean before he wrote this stupid article read this morning NYT and AP article that Rove got his information from journalists about this Plame non story.

I DO mean it. A few weeks ago there was another discussion where someone kept calling for more Cowbell. If someone hasn't seen that skit, they'd think the rest of us are nuts, but if you have, OMG it brings it all back.

If his source was Novak, why would he say "I heard that, too"?

"I kept waiting for Rush to gently tell her it was a parody, but he didn't. If it was a parody, I would be a little upset that Rush strung this sweet lady along."

"IF" it was a parody????? LOL

You have GOT to be kidding!!!

He played the parody again after he hung up with her and immediately before he went to the break. Go to his web site and listen to it for yourself.

She might be a "sweet" lady and one of Rush's biggest fans, because like she said, "I learn so much when I listen to you", but I will guarantee you that when people tell her a joke, she'll either be slow on the up-take or she won't get it at all --- EVEN IF someone tries to explain it to her.

After he came back from the break (before which he had played the parody again), Rush was laughing and even said that he was "trying to keep his composure", because of the email he was getting on the subject from other people who also thought it really might be a Soros-sponsored ad.

Personally, I don't know how he kept from laughing his head off. I was up and out of my chair I was laughing so hard. LOL
