Except for possibly the .01% of the population in the upper echelons of the Central Communist Party, there is little animus towards America that I could detect.)

And which .01% is it that would make the decision to attack?

Bingo!

The law teacher needs to actually read their constitution. As for the effectiveness of their indoctrination, the fact he got so little evidence of animus, is proof of their discipline. The Potemkin villages aside, we are likely also looking at a possible Walter Duranty who DIDN'T WANT to see anything disagreeable confuting the mythology being promoted. I know Chinese here, and they are uniformly circumpsect and polite...until you get in their face about the Communists, and they get defensive of the Regime, and its aggressions. They spout the Party line faithfully every time.

Sometimes I fantasize about being king of the hill ... and sometimes I fantasize about sitting in the king of the hill chair, facing an enemy of some kind .. and Lo! .. as king of the hill, I am powerfully armed.

And sometimes in my fantasy, as heavily armed king of the hill, I have the frustrated experience, while listening to whatever that enemy is saying, of saying, myself, out loud .. Aaahhh f***it, and I just blow the sumb!tch away.

Sometimes I wish my fantasy's would/could come true,

but mostly I'm glad they can't.

But

sometimes ....

You're very welcome.

I have a personal connection as well, my father helped engineer some of the EMP hardening for milspec electronics on a number of systems, and I currently have family working for the DOE in Hannford.

No one in my family is going to pooh-pooh the EMP threat, particularly the non-nuclear one:

Schematics all over:

Things might get exciting for you if the Shanghai Cooperation Org try to pull off a repeat of the Thousand Mile War! If they are smart, they will bypass the Alaskan interior entirely and cling to the coast! LOL!

Are you a physicist? What is your training? What do you do for a living? Let's see who's rational. Tell me the facts about your qualifications.

Yes, they will have trouble in the Interior. Everybody here is armed, wary, and annoyed already as a mere fact of existence. Don't need some extra bowl haircuts running around.

Just a little brain storm.

If I remember right, it takes a set length of wiring before the EMP really takes effect. Would some smaller electronics survive it better? It has been awhile since I had to do that math, and I can't remember how.

That certainly is part of the puzzle. In general, good design practices try to minimize run lengths between terminations and to avoid non terminated stubs as much as possible - simply for noise control alone it's the right thing to do.

Shotgun slugs were good enough for buffalo hunter Wyatt Earp, that's good enough for me. Besides doing the job about as well, shotgun barrels hold up a lot better than those big rifles. If the range is more than a hundred yards, but under 400, I will fall back to the pistol, as did Wyatt.

FYI

Indeed. Well done. Makes me wonder if we aren't in for another cold lukewarm war.

Another poster mentioned the transnational conglomerates not having any national allegiances and that has to be the case. They can't afford sentimental attachments when shareholders and bottom lines dictate policy. Another cold war would probably be good for business; all out war might be a horse of another color........but maybe not, in the short term.

The steady drumbeat for world governance leads me to believe that worldwide stability, not war, would be more desirable environment for the transnationals. Does that mean there needs to be a balance of power in the world? Does China have to be brought into the economic club so their "business" interests will be more important than any desire for world domination? Mostly rhetorical questions that I don't have answers for.

Thanks for all you guys do in assembling and disseminating info on the dragon.
